The Digital Slim sells for about the same price as the Dyson V8. So it’s essentially a budget Dyson cordless vacuum—significantly less expensive than flagships like the Gen 5 Detect.
It includes one cleaner head with the redesigned Motorbar, which is a combo head good for hard floors and carpets.
It also comes with two basic attachments: a dusting brush/upholstery tool and a crevice tool. And it includes a wall-mounted charging dock.
Pros of the Dyson Digital Slim Cordless Vacuum
Lightweight Design
Dyson claims it’s a third the size of their traditional cordless vacuums, but it’s more significant considering the handle weight, which is where the weight difference shows most.
The Digital Slim is almost 40% lighter than the Dyson V15 Detect.
And it’s a night-and-day difference in terms of user experience. It feels feather-light when vacuuming hard floors and carpets, and using it in handheld mode is a complete game-changer.
We’re not fans of using top-of-the-line Dysons like the V15 or Gen 5 in handheld mode, let alone their Outsize models, which are borderline ridiculous in our opinion. But with the Dyson Digital Slim’s smaller battery and dust bin, it’s a genuinely useful tool, especially if you need it for long periods, tackling handheld tasks.

Although it only comes with two attachments, they are high quality and use the standard size of Dyson attachments. That means you have various options if buying more attachments separately.
Power
Another great thing about the Digital Slim is its suction power. We measured its sealed suction at 90 inches on max power, which is significantly higher than average. While that’s not quite as high as flagship Dysons, it’s higher than the similarly priced V8 by a large amount.
New Motorbar Head and Debris Pickup
The newly released Motorbar head is an upgrade from previous generations. It was able to pick up a good range of debris types and sizes on both hard floors and carpets. And its pickup scores were on par with the best Dysons.
We also evaluated if it would pick up heavy debris like sand on the low power setting, and it could! That’s not typically the case with cheaper cordless or upright vacuums. So it was really great at its primary job of vacuuming floors.
Anti-Hair Tangle
It also has an anti-hair tangle feature, which uses little plastic combs in the brush head housing that detangle the brush roller as you vacuum. It did excellent with this in both our 7-inch and 14-inch hair evaluations. And we think Dyson has one of the best anti-hair wrap systems in the business.
Filtration
Its filtration system is very good. It uses a HEPA filter and a completely sealed system that traps all the dust in the vacuum. It passed our fog evaluation with flying colors, which is a must-have feature in our opinion, and most cheaper cordless vacuums fail this assessment.

Our Dyson Digital Slim cordless vacuum review won’t be complete without discussing potential drawbacks. However, most of the negatives are a direct result of its compactness.
But before we move on to the cons, there are some things worth noting that are just kind of average with this cordless vacuum. For example, while its sealed suction was super high, its airflow on max power was average.
It was the same with the crevice and unsealed suction evaluation. The numbers were average or slightly below average, but nothing too concerning, and the results are on par with vacuums in its price range.
Dustbin Capacity
The Digital Slim has a lower-than-average dust bin capacity at only 378 milliliters, which is one of the smallest we’ve seen. Even so, it functions well and was easy to empty, just like high-end Dysons.
Battery Size
Its battery was also pretty small. This is good if you want to keep the weight down, but it does cause some limitations. Dyson claims it can run 40 minutes on low power with no attachments. However, with the head attached, the run times would look more like this: 35 minutes on low power, 25 minutes for medium power, and eight minutes for max power.
In general, medium power is a good setting benchmark when deciding if this will work for your situation or home.
