Confused about the differences between the Roborock S7 and S7 MaxV models? We were, and that was before Roborock added the S7 Max to the mix. If youโre looking for some clarity youโve come to the right place. Below weโll cover the similarities and differences between these Roborock robot vacuums and packages.
Roborock S7 vs Roborock S7 Max vs Roborock S7 MaxV
For starters, we can eliminate a lot of confusion very quickly. While offered as no less than seven product packages in total, there are only three actual robot vacuums used in those packages. Weโll focus on the three robot vacuums first, and then explain the various packages for each.
Robot vacuum buying guides
S7, S7 MaxV, and S7 Max Packages
As we mentioned, there are a total of seven packages available. Currently these are the packages that can be purchased on Amazon.
The one vacuum not listed above is the S7+ with the Cyclone Dustbin. We recently updated the list above to include the newly released S7 Max Ultra.
At the highest level, the three Roborock S7 models are 2-in-1 vacuuming and mopping robots. They all use LiDAR navigation, which allows map storage and customization. There are a lot of advanced features that come along with their mapping capabilities, including room cleaning, zone cleaning, and advanced scheduling.

Roborock, Plus and +
Our use of the plus sign (+) and the word plus in Roborockโs product names arenโt mistakes. Roborock uses the + sign with some models and the full word โplusโ with others.
Roborock S7
The Roborock S7 was announced in January of 2021 and was Roborockโs flagship robot vacuum at the time. Although it carried a high ticket price, it was instantly a hit as it was well sorted, easy to use, and good at doing what it was advertised to do: cleaning floors and making life easier.
There were many technologies and innovations that came along with the S7. Here are just a few that stand out:
Advanced navigation and mapping
The S7 built upon a legacy of well-mannered robot vacuums using precise, LiDAR-based mapping and navigation. The byproducts of its mapping system are features like recharge-and-resume, multiple floor plan (or map) storage, advanced scheduling, room and zone-based cleaning, and no-go zones.
Innovative VibraRise mopping system
The Roborock S7โs name for their mopping system, VibaRise, references two features. First, the mopping pad vibrates rapidly to improve efficiency with stubborn mopping tasks. Second, when the robot realizes it is moving onto carpeting, it raises the mopping pad to prevent it from making contact with the carpet.

Powerful vacuuming
Where power is concerned, Roborock cited the S7 as having 2500Pa (pascals) of suction power. At the time of the robotโs release, 2500Pa was toward the upper end of the spectrum when compared with the S7โs peers.
Beyond those key advancements above, the S7 also had carpet boost, an excellent app to manage the robot, compatibility with both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, and glowing customer reviews.
Roborock S7 MaxV
Released in 2022, the S7 MaxV is the successor to the original Roborock S7. With the S7 MaxV, Roborock took everything that was great about the S7 and added several improvements as well as completely new capabilities. Anything that the S7 does, the S7 MaxV does also. Where the S7 MaxV has improved, or a net-new feature, weโll cover it below.
Double the suction power
Compared with its predecessor, the S7 MaxV has more than double the suction power at 5100Pa.
Object Recognition and Obstacle Avoidance
The biggest new feature that the S7 MaxV includes is object recognition and obstacle avoidance. The system in use is an upgraded version of ReactiveAI obstacle avoidance dubbed ReactiveAI 2.0.
In our round-up of the best robot vacuums with obstacle avoidance, the S7 MaxV performed exceptionally well.
ReactiveAI’s origin
The first generation of ReactiveAI wasnโt a feature of an S7 model. In fact, the original S7 did not have AI-powered obstacle avoidance. Roborockโs first model with ReactiveAI 1.0 was the S6 MaxV.
Roborock S7 Max
Hereโs where things start to get confusing, or at least we think so. In 2023, Roborock announced the S7 Max Ultra. The name is very close to the S7 MaxV Ultra, with the only difference being the removal of the โVโ.
The S7 Max appears to be a new robot vacuum that is an evolution of the S7 MaxV. At the time of writing this, there is not an S7 Max that can be purchased standalone, so from the information that is currently available, it appears that the S7 Max will have all the features and functionality of the S7 MaxV as well as significantly upgraded features and characteristics. These include:
Even more suction power
The S7 Max is another step up in suction power. The S7 Max is shown as having 5500 Pa, 400 Pa more than the S7 MaxV and 3000 Pa more than the original S7.
Colors
Like the original S7, the S7 Max comes in two colors, white and black.
Thereโs more to talk about when we add the S7 Maxโs dock to the equation below.
S7, S7 MaxV, and S7 Max sold as Plus and Ultra packages
Roborock S7, S7+, and S7+ with Cyclone Dustbin
The S7 is currently sold in three packages:
- Roborock S7 – When purchasing this option, you are buying the S7 robot only with a standard charging base.
- Roborock S7+ – The +, or Plus version, includes the S7 robot with a dock that both charges the robot and empires its dustbin into disposable bags.
- Roborock S7+ with Cyclone Dustbin – This package is the same as the S7 Plus package, with the addition of a plastic dustbin that eliminates the need for disposable bags.
Roborock S7 MaxV, S7 MaxV Plus, and S7 MaxV Ultra
There are three options when purchasing the S7 MaxV today:
- Roborock S7 MaxV – This option includes the S7 MaxV robot and a standard charging base.
- Roborock S7 MaxV Plus – The MaxV Plus includes an auto-empty dock and charger. It is the same exact dock as the one that comes with the S7+ package above.
- Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra – The S7 MaxV Ultra also includes both a robot and an advanced dock. This dock, however, goes beyond charging the robot and emptying its dustbin – it also refills and empties the robotโs water used for mopping and cleans its mopping pad.
Roborock S7 Max Ultra
When this article was written, the S7 Max Ultra wasnโt yet available for sale. It was quietly added to the Roborock U.S. website. The only configuration, or package, listed for this model is the S7 Max Ultra:
- Roborock S7 Max Ultra – This option includes the new S7 Max robot vacuum and a new auto-empty dock and charger. This dock shares the same physical dimensions as the S7 MaxV Ultra dock, but it has a new feature: automatic mop pad drying.
Which S7 to purchase
Every Roborock S7 model and package is well-regarded. Itโs easy to say, โGet the latest-and-greatest S7,โ which would be the S7 Max Ultra. But our recommendation is to first consider your needs and budget and then review what each model and package offers.
Prices should be declining steadily on all these models, driven by the imminent release of the successor to the Roborock S7 line, the Roborock S8 line.
