Eufy E20 Review: 3-in-1 Robot Vacuum & Cordless Stick in One

The Eufy E20 3-in-1 is the first robot vacuum we’ve seen that features a cordless vacuum handle built directly into the robot. At first, we thought it was a gimmick. But after buying one and evaluating it over the past few weeks, it’s actually quite good. We liked it, and not just as a robot vacuum, but also as a cordless vacuum. In this Eufy E20 review, you’ll essentially get two reviews in one where we’ll go over the pros and cons of both the robot and cordless vacuum aspects of the E20, and reveal if it made the Vacuum Wars Top 20 Robot Vacuums list.

Eufy E20 Robot Vacuum at the Vacuum Wars Studio

The Eufy E20 is a standout robot vacuum that impressed in many of Vacuum Wars’ performance categories, scoring above average across key metrics despite not including a mop feature. What truly sets it apart is its groundbreaking 3-in-1 combo design which transforms seamlessly between robot, stick, and handheld vacuum modes. This flexibility gives users complete control over their cleaning routine, from deep carpet cleans to quick handheld pickups. In robot mode, it boasts 8,000 Pa of suction power, while the stick and handheld modes deliver a powerful 30,000 Pa, all with automatic self-emptying for up to 75 days. Eufy also equipped the E20 with smart features like millimeter-level Triple-Line Laser Obstacle Avoidance, Pro-Detangle technology to prevent brushroll tangles, and a five-stage AeroTurbo filtration system. About the Eufy E20 3-in-1 Robot Vacuum

The E20 3-in-1 is always sold with its auto-empty bin—there’s no robot-only option. It doesn’t include a mop, so it’s strictly a vacuum model. But unlike most robot vacuums, it also doubles as a cordless stick vacuum, making it truly unique in this category.

While the list price is around $650, it has consistently sold for much less since its release. At the time of this review, it’s available for about $350, which is excellent value for a robot vacuum with premium features.

Eufy E20 Robot Vacuum Evaluation and Performance

Let’s start with how it performs as a robot vacuum, and then move on to the cordless vacuum aspect.

Vacuuming

As a robot vacuum, the E20 performed particularly well in the various performance evaluations. It did a good job sweeping up all types and sizes of debris we evaluated it with on hard floors and carpets, using its single side brush and single main brush.

It also did very well with the other practical performance evaluations. For example, in our carpet deep clean evaluation, which assesses how much deeply embedded sand can be extracted from a medium-pile carpet, it scored 81%. That’s well above the average score of 75%.

Pet Hair

The E20 collected 97% of the hair in our 2.5 inch pet hair pickup evaluation, where we flatten hair on the carpet. That’s higher than the average of 87%.

This 3-in-1 robot vacuum has what Eufy calls a Pro Detangle Comb, which actively removes hair from its brush. In our seven-inch hair tangle evaluation, it had zero percent of the hair tangled on its brush, whereas the average score is 38%.

So, in terms of sweeping and vacuuming hard floors and carpets, the Eufy E20 3-in-1 robot vacuum performed exceptionally well, especially considering its price.

Auto Empty Bin

Another advantage is its auto-empty bin. When the robot returns to the base, it automatically empties the contents of its internal dustbin into the base, where there’s a 3-litre disposable bag. According to Eufy, this bag holds up to 75 days’ worth of debris.

That keeps the robot’s maintenance to a minimum, making the whole experience feel more automated.

LiDAR Navigation

Another thing we liked was its navigation. The Eufy E20 robot 3-in-1 uses a top-mounted LiDAR, which can very quickly and accurately create a map of your home. We also found its navigation and coverage to be efficient and smart.

In our tests, the Eufy E20 navigated our floor plan efficiently, covering more ground in less time than most competitors. On average, it cleaned about 0.78 square meters per minute, compared to the typical 0.70 square meters per minute, putting it slightly above average in navigation and coverage. It’s also an upgrade from the Eufy C10 or C20, which used single fixed lasers in the front to navigate instead of traditional LiDAR.

Eufy E20 Cordless Vacuum Evaluation and Performance

Probably the most interesting pro of the Eufy E20 3-in-1 robot vacuum is its cordless vacuum aspect. Sure, some manufacturers have included a cordless vacuum in the past as part of the package. But this is the first time that the motor, handle, and filter are actually shared between the robot and cordless units.

Pressing the red release button detaches the core of the cordless vacuum. Then, simply attach that to either the wand and floor head for floor cleaning, or to one of the two handheld tools.

It’s designed for either hard floors or carpets, and ideal for high-traffic areas, such as around litter boxes. Plus, it’s a smart solution for stairs, where robot vacuums (alas) still struggle to reach.

Cordless Vacuum Weight

What stood out first about the cordless vacuum was its weight. The handle is one of the lightest we’ve tested, coming in at 1,240 grams—almost identical to the Dyson Digital Slim at 1,232 grams, which was designed for minimal weight. By comparison, the average cordless vacuum handle weighs about 1,591 grams.

In our opinion, a lightweight handle really makes a big difference in the overall cordless vacuum experience.

Cordless Vacuum Power

The E20’s cordless vacuum offers three power modes—low, medium, and max. On its highest setting, it reached a sealed suction power of 106 inches, which is well above average for cordless vacuums at any price. For comparison, the Dyson Digital Slim measured 90 inches, while the overall average is about 74 inches.

Cordless Vacuum Performance

Although its airflow and unsealed suction were slightly below average, the E20 still delivered strong real-world results. In our carpet deep clean test on max power, it removed 97% of embedded debris, which is better than both the average cordless vacuum at 93% and even edged out the Dyson Digital Slim at 96%.

While the E20’s airflow and unsealed suction were below average—36 cfm compared to the average of 42 cfm, and 0.24 kpa versus the average of 0.58 kpa—it still performed well in practice. In our crevice pickup test, it scored a perfect 3 out of 3, beating both the Dyson Digital Slim (2) and the category average (2.3). We were particularly impressed with its ability to lift heavy debris like cat litter and sand, even on low power, though max power is best for tougher jobs.

The E20’s cordless vacuum aspect did have its limitations. For one, its low profile and small front gates caused it to snowplow larger debris on hard floors and even a bit on carpet.

Filtration was another weak point. It failed our fog evaluation, which is common for budget cordless vacuums, but still worth noting.

As for battery life, it was okay, but just a touch below average. You can expect approximately 40 minutes on low power, 20 minutes on medium, and likely 10 minutes or less on maximum.

Battery life chart showing Eufy E20 3-in-1 at 40 minutes, Dyson Digital Slim at 40 minutes, and average cordless vacuums at 44 minutes on low power.

But one of the biggest drawbacks is the dust bin size. Remember, both the cordless vacuum and robot vacuum share the same dust bin in this configuration. So the bin capacity, being slightly below average, is unfavorable, even for a robot vacuum.

It’s also among the smallest we’ve ever seen in a cordless vacuum. Expect to empty the bin often if you use it regularly.

Cons of the Eufy E20 3-in-1 Robot Vacuum

Our Eufy E20 review won’t be complete without discussing the cons related to the robot vacuum side. Here’s what we found.

Battery Life

Its battery life was disappointing. While it’s officially rated at 180 minutes on low power, our battery efficiency evaluations (which we run across all its power modes on a fixed floor plan) revealed it to be below average.

Even with decent navigation efficiency (mentioned earlier), it ended up with a below-average estimated square feet per charge number, at 763.

Obstacle Avoidance

Another drawback was its poor obstacle avoidance. But to be fair, it’s rare to have obstacle avoidance at this price point. Even so, it avoided just 9 out of the 24 objects in our evaluation, compared to an average of 16. So, you’ll still need to do some pre-cleaning to prevent tangles and stoppages.

Missed Opportunities

One missed opportunity is that the cordless vacuum’s head can’t be connected directly to the cordless vacuum handle. This would have made stair cleaning easier and more convenient. Plus, the attachments (e.g., crevice tool) also aren’t cross-compatible. For example, you can’t use the crevice tool on the end of the wand.

Another oversight is the lack of an easy way to dock the wand and floor head onto the robot’s base, which would have simplified storage.

Eufy E20 review: Conclusion and Recommendation

Considering everything, the Eufy E20 3-in-1 robot vacuum offers excellent value, especially if it remains within its current price range. The robot itself performs exceptionally well and has better navigation capabilities than average.

And although its battery life and obstacle avoidance aren’t great, we can overlook both at this price point. The extra value of a genuinely good cordless vacuum is also a big win, despite the bin size.

However, the E20 didn’t make the Vacuum Wars Top 20 Robot Vacuums list. It’s currently ranking around 50th place, which is pretty good all things considered. In fact, it may be the highest-ranking robot with an auto-empty bin currently available for under $400, which is quite impressive. If you want a lot of value and don’t need a mop on your robot vacuum, the E20 3-in-1 robot vacuum is a great option worth considering.
