IFA 2025: Narwal Flow Robot Vacuum Showcases Smart Mopping Tech

At IFA 2025 in Berlin, Narwal presented the Narwal Flow, its most advanced robot vacuum and mop yet. The company first announced the Flow in the US market earlier this summer, but the IFA showcase gave us a closer look at how Narwal is approaching robot mopping and home cleaning automation.

The Narwal Flow is a robot vacuum and mop combo featuring 22,000 Pa suction power, a real-time self-cleaning FlowWash track mop, and dual water tanks that use 113 °F warm water and a scraper to maintain mop cleanliness during operation. It offers automatic mop washing, drying, and detergent dispensing, and includes 12 mm mop lifting to avoid carpets while vacuuming. A 2.5 L self-emptying dustbin allows for up to 120 days of hands-free use. The system uses EdgeReach technology with extendable side brushes to reach deep into corners and along edges, while dual RGB AI cameras and advanced obstacle avoidance help it navigate complex home layouts. The Flow also supports voice commands via the “Hey Nawa” assistant and can be controlled or scheduled using the Narwal app. It includes two anti-tangling side brushes, dust bags, filters, and detergent, and runs on a 6,400 mAh battery for extended runtime. Narwal Flow Mopping System at IFA 2025

45°C Hot Water Mopping With Real-Time Self-Cleaning

The Flow uses a unique combination of heat, pressure, and precision to improve stain removal. It sprays 45°C (113°F) water through 16 targeted nozzles directly onto the mop roller, while applying 12 newtons of downward scrubbing pressure to lift deeper residue. At the same time, a built-in scraper collects the dirty water into a 120ml onboard tank. This separation system ensures that fresh water stays clean and prevents cross-contamination from debris.

Larger Mop Coverage With Elliptical Roller

The Flow’s track-style mop features an elliptical design that creates up to 16 times more surface contact with the floor than a standard roller mop. Spinning at 80 rpm, it’s built to resist tangles and maintain consistent scrubbing power, making it well-suited for sticky spills and pet messes. The mop also extends toward the edge, allowing it to clean close to walls and furniture with better coverage.

Narwal Flow Vacuuming Features

At IFA 2025, Narwal detailed several upgrades to its vacuuming system. The tapered main brush is designed to funnel hair toward one side for more efficient pickup. The dual side brushes automatically adjust their shape and can even reverse direction to release tangles. Narwal also introduced its new CarpetFocus technology, which lowers the brush to increase agitation and improve carpet cleaning performance—an addition that will appeal to households with many carpeted areas.

The Flow also takes suction power to a new level, delivering 22,000Pa compared to the Freo Z Ultra’s 12,000Pa. That’s a significant leap forward and positions it as one of Narwal’s strongest robot vacuums to date.

Physically, the robot measures 3.7 inches in height and can climb thresholds up to 1.57 inches (~40mm), which is double the typical robot vacuum’s limit of 20mm. A 6,400mAh battery with fast-charging extends runtime.

Narwal Flow Docking Station and Automation

The Flow’s dock is designed for hands-free cleaning and maintenance:

  • 2.5L dust bag with up to 120 days of debris storage
  • 176°F hot water sterilization for mops, tanks, and pipes
  • 104°F warm air drying to reduce odor and bacteria growth
  • Automatic detergent dispensing
  • Build-up removal module for long-term upkeep

An optional plumbing kit connects the dock directly to household water lines, allowing automatic tank refilling and draining.

Navigation and Obstacle Avoidance

The Narwal Flow combines LiDAR mapping with dual RGB cameras and an onboard AI processor. According to Narwal, it recognizes more than 200 object types with sub-inch accuracy. All processing happens locally, so navigation and obstacle data remain private. At IFA, Narwal emphasized the Flow’s precise obstacle avoidance, which helps it move smoothly through complex homes.

Smart Home Integration

The Flow supports Narwal’s own “Hey Nawa” voice assistant as well as Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri. Matter support is scheduled for November 2025, giving the Flow better integration with other smart home devices.

Why the Narwal Flow Matters

The Narwal Flow is more than a spec bump. At IFA 2025, Narwal positioned this model as a true mop replacement, with multiple intelligent features like hot water scrubbing, dirty water separation, and tangle-free roller mopping that address common concerns about robot mop effectiveness.

The Flow also highlights a broader robot vacuum industry trend: hybrid models are becoming more specialized and capable, especially in floor washing.
