Roborock Qrevo S5V Review: Mid-Range Robot Vacuum with Great Value

The Roborock Qrevo S5V robot vacuum and mop combo is one of Roborockโ€™s newest mid-range models. We purchased it and put it through our full series of independent performance tests, and the results show that it can be a great value robot vacuumโ€”but only if you can find it at a discounted price.

In this review, weโ€™ll cover the pros and cons based on our performance results, and how it stacks up against the competition for the top spot as our favorite value robot vacuum.

We found the Roborock Qrevo S5V to be a strong value option when itโ€™s on sale, delivering excellent results in carpet deep cleaning, pet hair pickup, and mopping that outperformed many competitors in our tests. However, we also noted clear drawbacks: its obstacle avoidance was poor, its airflow and suction bench scores were average to below average, the dustbin is smaller than most, and the app felt buggier and more limited than Roborockโ€™s higher-end models. Overall, we think the Qrevo S5V is one of the best value robots in its class when purchased at a discount.

Roborock Qrevo S5V Basics: Mid-Range Robot Vacuum Overview

The Qrevo S5V is a vacuum and mop combo that sits in the middle of Roborockโ€™s Qrevo lineup.

Compared to the entry-level Qrevo models, it adds stronger suction and some hardware improvements, but it stops short of matching the advanced features found in Roborockโ€™s higher-end Qrevos like the Slim (see our review) and the Curv (see our review) .

Because itโ€™s such a trimmed down Roborock model, the price is one of the biggest variables for whether we think this is a good value. When itโ€™s on sale for nearly 40% off the list price, this model actually comes in just ahead of our current #1 Value Pick, the MOVA P10 Pro Ultra (see our full review).

Roborock Qrevo S5V Pros and Performance Results

Hardware and Suction Power

The Qrevo S5V uses Roborock’s DuoDivide brush that actively resists hair from wrapping around the main brush of the vacuum.

It has a fixed “FlexiArm” side brush that also resists hair tangles, and Roborock rates the vacuum’s official suction at 12,000Pa.

We found that it did well at its main job of sweeping up debris of all sizes from both hard floor and carpets, and it did not create much of a “scattering effect” while it was vacuuming.

Core hardware details of the Roborock Qrevo S5V, including its DuoDivide main brush, FlexiArm side brush, and 12,000Pa suction rating, all designed for better debris pickup and reduced hair tangles.

Hair Tangle Test

The DuoDivide brush excelled in our 7-inch hair tangle test, finishing with zero hair tangles โ€” far better than the average robot, which tends to wrap 38% of the hairs around the brush.

The Roborock Qrevo S5V had no hair wrapped around the DuoDivide brush in our 7 inch hair tangle test, beating the average of 38% wrapped hair

Flattened Pet Hair Test

It also did great in our flattened pet hair test, where we press two and a half inch hair onto carpet to mimic real-world conditions.

The Qrevo S5V removed 92% of the pet hair. This was a great score, outperforming the MOVA P10 Pro Ultra’s score of 66%, which was also below the average of 81%.

Carpet Cleaning Test Results

But where the S5V really surprised us was in the carpet deep clean test. For this test, we embed sand and grit into a medium-pile carpet and then measure how much the robot is able to remove. The Qrevo S5V did an outstanding job at this, removing 92% of the sand, which was our 4th best score to date out of more than a hundred and fifty robots weโ€™ve tested.

This score beat the MOVA P10 Pro Ultra, which removed 81% and was much higher than the average of 75%. For a robot with mop pads that lift over carpet, which often seems to reduce carpet suction, this was an impressive result.

Independent Vacuum Wars evaluations show the Roborock Qrevo S5V excels in hair tangle resistance, carpet deep cleaning, and pet hair removalโ€”beating both the category average and the MOVA P10 Pro Ultra in key performance areas.

Mopping Performance

The Qrevo S5Vโ€™s dual spinning mop pads lift 10mm when carpet is detected, allowing it to vacuum and mop in a single run. One mop pad also extends to improve edge coverage.

It did put out a little more water than we like, since we have found that mops that use too much water tend to cause streaking. The Qrevo S5V used about 25% more water than the average, where the MOVA P10 left behind right at the average amount.

Altogether, the overall mop score was really good at 217 points compared to the average of 188, and definitely outperformed the MOVA P10 Pro Ultra’s score of 155.

In Vacuum Warsโ€™ mopping tests, the Roborock Qrevo S5V outperformed both the average robot vacuum and the MOVA P10 Pro Ultra, scoring higher in dried-on stain removal and overall mopping performance, though it used slightly more water than average.

Dock and Auto-Empty Features

The dock handles several maintenance tasks. It auto-empties the robot’s dustbin into a disposable bag. It also supports fast and off-peak charging, and it also washes and dries the mop pads.

It does not use heated water to wash the mop pads, which is a drawback because hot water is more effective for cleaning the pads, but it does use warm air to dehydrate the pads, which is a plus.

Navigation and Battery Life

In navigation, the Qrevo S5V uses a top-mounted LiDAR for mapping and routing.

The Qrevo S5V and the MOVA P10 were nearly identical in this. The Qrevo S5V covered 0.822 square meters per minute, while the MOVA P10 Pro Ultra covered 0.825. Both of these are above the average of .7.

However, in battery efficiency, the Qrevo was slightly better than average, but only just so. We test our robots on multiple settings on a fixed floor plan, and we found that the Qrevo S5V only ran for 1.4 minutes for one percent of battery life. This is only slightly better than the average of 1.3 minutes, and much lower compared to the MOVA P10.

Still, the Qrevo S5Vโ€™s estimated coverage per charge is 1,243 square feet, better than the average of 1,015 square feet.

App Features and Controls

The app is a good one.

You can customize room settings and set cleaning sequences, no-mop zones, and virtual barriers. Because it doesn’t have a camera, it’s not going to have some of the pet and video features the higher-end Qrevos have.

And while we really like the Roborock App in general, we could tell this was a more budget-friendly model, since it was lacking some of the controls we like and it was a little buggier than usual.

Roborock Qrevo S5V Cons and Limitations

Obstacle Avoidance Test

The Qrevo S5V uses Reactive Tech Obstacle avoidance, which uses 3D structured light instead of an RGB camera to sense clutter in its path.

The Qrevo S5V has a 3D structured light instead of an RGB camera for obstacle avoidance, which was unimpressive

It performed very poorly in our standard tests and in our torture test, only avoiding 6 out of 24 total obstacles.

This was way below the average robot, which comes in at 16.6 objects out of 24, and was actually one of our worst scores on record for a robot with obstacle avoidance. The MOVA P10 Pro Ultra was much better here, with 19 out of 24 obstacles avoided. This issue on the Qrevo S5V showed up in our research of customer feedback as well, where robot encounters with pet waste caused problems for a few users.

The Qrevo S5V only avoided 6 out of 24 obstacles in our combined tests, compared to the MOVA P10 Pro Ultra's score of 19 and the average of 16.6

Airflow and Suction Bench Tests

It also had an average airflow (16 CFM while the average is 16.4 CFM) and a far below average suction in our bench tests. (The S5V logged 0.47 kPa against an average of 0.83 kPa).

The Roborock Qrevo S5V had a below average score in our suction bench test (.47kPa to average of .83kPa - left) and average airflow (16 cfm to the average of 16.4 - right)

As we already saw in the pickup and carpet tests, the low suction score didnโ€™t affect it there, but it was noticeable in the crevice pickup test, where it only scored 1.5 compared to the average of 2.0.

Dustbin Size and Voice Commands

It also has a smaller than average dustbin at 325ml. A smaller bin can get overwhelmed with hair or debris before it returns to the dock to empty.

The Qrevo S5V has a dustbin of 325ml, smaller than the average of 400ml

And, finally, the S5V does not have Roborock’s virtual assistant feature, where the robot itself can support voice commands, so you’ll have to link it up with a third party voice assistant for that.

Is the Roborock Qrevo S5V Worth It? Final Verdict

If the Roborock Qrevo S5V stays near its sale price (~40% off), itโ€™s a real contender for best value robot vacuum.

It beats the MOVA P10 Pro Ultra in carpet deep cleaning, pet hair pickup, and mopping. However, it has extremely poor obstacle avoidance and fewer features overall.

When the Qrevo S5V is full price, weโ€™d recommend the MOVA P10 Pro Ultra (see our review) instead. But, if you find it discounted, where the price is below the MOVA’s, we think the Qrevo S5V is one of the best deals in its class.
