Narwal Flow 2 Ultra First Look: 2026 Flagship With AI Navigation and Heated Mopping

The Narwal Flow 2 Ultra is Narwal’s 2026 flagship robot vacuum and mop combo, and it builds on the success of the original Narwal Flow, which earned high marks in our testing—especially for mopping—and secured a strong position on our Top 20 Robot Vacuums list at the time.

In this first look, we’re examining what we know so far about the upcoming Flow 2 Ultra, focusing on its official specifications, new technologies, and how it differs from the first-generation Narwal Flow.

Narmind Pro Autonomous System: Next-Generation Navigation and Obstacle Avoidance

The most significant upgrade on the Narwal Flow 2 Ultra is its new navigation and obstacle avoidance system, branded as the Narmind Pro Autonomous System.

This system uses dual high-definition RGB cameras for vision and depth perception. Powering it is what Narwal calls Omni Vision AI, described as a visual language action (VLA) model that combines visual input with large language model analysis.

The Flow 2 processes much of its visual data locally, but it can also send certain signals to the cloud for what Narwal describes as cloud-based learning cycles. This hybrid approach blends onboard AI processing with cloud refinement, and Narwal claims it enables “unlimited object recognition.”

What Is a Vacuum Wars First Look?

A Vacuum Wars First Look is an early preview of a new product, focused on its features, specifications, and how it compares to previous models or competitors. Unlike our full reviews, First Looks are released quickly—often shortly after a product is announced—so viewers can get timely insights while a product is still new.

Because Vacuum Wars does not accept early promotional or free products from manufacturers, we have to independently purchase every product after it launches. Only then can we perform our weeks of standardized testing, so our full reviews take time. First Looks bridge that gap by providing an informed overview before our complete performance evaluations are finished.

In short, a First Look explains what a product claims to do and how it fits in the market, while a full review is based on in-studio testing, verified performance data, and final rankings.

Beyond recognition, the system introduces adaptive behavioral responses. The Flow 2 Ultra can reportedly adjust how close it cleans to objects based on risk level:

  • Low-risk objects (such as walls) can be cleaned at distances just under one centimeter.
  • Medium-risk objects receive progressively more clearance.
  • High-risk objects—like pet waste—trigger the largest avoidance distance.

This is particularly noteworthy because our testing of the original Narwal Flow’s obstacle avoidance left us somewhat underwhelmed. (See our full review of the original Narwal Flow) The Flow 2 Ultra’s new AI suite is clearly positioned as a direct response to those limitations.

Flow Wash Track-Style Roller Mop With 140°F Heated Water

On the mopping side, Narwal continues to focus heavily on performance.

The Flow 2 Ultra uses the Flow Wash system, featuring a track-style roller mop. Track-style mops provide a larger contact surface area than traditional cylindrical rollers, allowing for more consistent scrubbing coverage. The mop pad can also extend outward to improve edge cleaning along baseboards and cabinetry.

Narwal is also doubling down on warm water mopping. The onboard water for the Flow 2 Ultra is heated to 140°F (60°C), which is a substantial increase over the original Flow’s mopping temperature.

Given how well the first-generation Flow performed in our mopping tests, the higher water temperature and refined mop system are upgrades we are especially interested in evaluating under controlled conditions.

Increased Suction and Battery Improvements

As far as vacuuming goes, the Flow 2 Ultra significantly increases its official suction rating compared to the first-generation Flow, rising from 22,000 Pa to 30,000 Pa.

While the suction rating has gone up, the dual-flow tangle-free brush system appears to remain the same as the previous generation. In our in-house testing, that brush design performed well in preventing hair tangles, so continuity here may be a positive rather than a drawback.

Battery capacity also increases on the Flow 2 Ultra, moving from 6,400 mAh to 7,000 mAh. Narwal states that its AI system helps manage battery health, which could contribute to improved long-term durability and overall efficiency.

Functionally, the dock includes:

  • A dust bag rated for up to 120 days of capacity
  • A reusable dust bag, reducing ongoing replacement costs
  • Mop washing with water heated to 158°F (70°C)
  • A self-cleaning cycle that uses boiling-temperature water for sterilization
  • Availability in either plumbed-in or standalone tank configurations

The reusable dust bag is a particularly interesting shift, especially for users who prefer minimizing recurring consumable expenses.

Narwal Flow 2 Ultra Release Date

The Narwal Flow 2 Ultra is scheduled for release in April 2026.

As with all products we evaluate, we plan to purchase the Flow 2 Ultra ourselves and put it through our independent testing protocol. Narwal Flow 2 Ultra FAQ

When will the Narwal Flow 2 Ultra be released?

Narwal says on their website that the Flow 2 Ultra is scheduled for release in April 2026. We plan to purchase it once it becomes available and test it using our independent evaluation protocol.

What is new on the Narwal Flow 2 Ultra compared to the original Narwal Flow?

The Flow 2 Ultra’s biggest changes are its upgraded navigation and obstacle avoidance suite (the Narmind Pro Autonomous System with Omni Vision AI), a higher heated-water mopping temperature (140°F / 60°C), increased official suction, a larger battery, and a redesigned base station with features like a slimmer profile, heated mop washing (158°F / 70°C), and a reusable dust bag rated for up to 120 days.

How does the Narwal Flow 2 Ultra’s Narmind Pro obstacle avoidance work?

Narwal’s Narmind Pro Autonomous System uses dual high-definition RGB cameras for vision and depth perception, powered by what the company calls Omni Vision AI (a visual language action model). The system processes many visual signals locally and can also use cloud-based learning cycles. Narwal says this helps enable “unlimited object recognition” and allows the robot to adjust how closely it cleans near objects based on risk level.

Does the Narwal Flow 2 Ultra use heated water for mopping?

Yes. Narwal says the Flow 2 Ultra heats the onboard mopping water to 140°F (60°C), which is higher than the first-generation Flow. The base station also washes the mop system with water heated to 158°F (70°C) and includes a self-cleaning cycle that uses boiling-temperature water for sterilization.

What type of mop does the Narwal Flow 2 Ultra use?

The Flow 2 Ultra uses Narwal’s Flow Wash system, which is a track-style roller mop design. Narwal says track-style mops provide more surface area for scrubbing than cylinder-style rollers, and the mop pad can extend to reach closer to edges for improved edge cleaning.

What upgrades are coming to the Narwal Flow 2 Ultra’s base station?

Narwal redesigned the base station with a slimmer, taller profile intended to better match home décor. Functionally, Narwal advertises up to 120 days of dust capacity and says the dust bag is reusable. The dock also supports heated mop washing (158°F / 70°C), a boiling-water self-cleaning sterilization cycle, and will be offered in both plumbed-in and standalone tank versions.
