Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete Review: A New Top Robot Vacuum Contender

The Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete is one of the most anticipated robot vacuum releases of the year. We first saw it in action at CES 2026, where it appeared to be a significant upgrade to Dreame’s flagship X-series lineup. To find out whether it lived up to the hype, we purchased the Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete ourselves and put it through weeks of hands-on testing. In this review, we’ll walk through the performance scores that genuinely impressed us, the areas where it fell short, and where it ultimately landed on our Top 20 Robot Vacuum rankings.

The Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete is Dreame’s flagship robot vacuum-mop combo, featuring a slim 3.13-inch (79.5 mm) retractable-LiDAR design paired with exceptional 51 mm (2-inch) threshold climbing. It delivers powerful 35,000 Pa suction and uses the HyperStream Duo Divide anti-tangle brush with an extending side brush to improve edge cleaning and prevent hair wrap. In testing, it performed extremely well on hard floors and carpets, achieving an 89% carpet deep-clean score and a rare 100% score in flattened pet-hair pickup. Its upgraded mopping system includes dual spinning pads with warmed water, 15 N downward pressure, 21.5 mm mop lifting, an extending edge mop, and optional mop removal for vacuum-only runs. Obstacle avoidance is another highlight, using binocular AI cameras, edge sensors, and Proactive Illumination to detect objects as small as 1 cm while avoiding 22 of 24 objects in testing. The self-empty dock includes a 3.2 L dust bag, boiling-temperature mop washing, hot-air drying, fast charging (~80 minutes), and automatic detergent and odor-control refilling. Downsides include slightly below-average navigation efficiency, modest battery efficiency and coverage (about 950 ft² per charge), and a relatively small 235 mL onboard dustbin. See additional info

Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete Overview

Starting with the basics, the Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete is Dreame’s latest flagship robot vacuum in the X series, replacing last year’s flagship, the X50 Ultra. The X60 sits in the premium tier for robot vacuums, and at this price point, expectations are high.

The X60 is available for purchase in either black or white.

The Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete is available in both black and white finishes, allowing users to match the premium robot vacuum and dock to their home aesthetic.

We should mention that there is a variant in the X60 lineup called the X60 Ultra (See on Amazon), which has slightly different specs and is missing a few of the bells and whistles of the X60 Max Ultra Complete, which is the version we bought and tested for this review.

For reference, we will occasionally compare the Dreame X60’s performance to what we consider its closest competitor, the Roborock Curv X (see our review) , as well as overall category averages.

Dreame X60 Max Ultra: The Pros

Slimmest Dreame Robot Yet with 88mm Threshold Climbing

The X60 Max Ultra Complete introduces several substantial changes compared to last year’s flagship. For one, this is the slimmest Dreame robot ever, measuring just 3.12 inches tall (79.5 mm) when its LiDAR turret is retracted. Dreame had been falling behind in the robot height competition, as the brand previously seemed to prioritize threshold climbing, which typically requires more internal hardware and added bulk.

Despite its slimmer profile, the X60 boasts the highest threshold-climbing ability Dreame has ever offered, crossing a single-layer threshold of 45 mm and a two-layer threshold of up to 88 mm. That’s a major engineering accomplishment considering the reduced height, and in our tests it did even better than advertised by crossing a single threshold of 51 mm, tying it for first place for single thresholds in our tests with the MOVA Z60 Ultra (See on Amazon).

The Max Ultra Complete’s official suction is rated at 35,000 Pascals. It also includes a pressure plate that lowers to create a semi-seal against carpet for increased suction performance.

In our debris pickup assessment, the X60 performed well on both hard floors and carpets. While there was minor scattering with finer debris on hard floors during the first pass, everything was collected on the second pass.

High Carpet Deep Clean Test Score

In our carpet deep clean test—where we embed sand into medium pile carpet and measure how much the robot extracts—the X60 achieved an outstanding 89% removal rate. That score is significantly above the average for robot vacuums in this category, which is 78%.

Pet Hair Pickup on Carpet

The X60 also earned a rare perfect score of 100% in our flattened pet hair test. In this test, we press 2.5-inch pet hair into carpet fibers to simulate real-world conditions. A perfect score is uncommon, and the X60 outperformed both the category average (82%) and its nearest competitor (76%).

Long Hair-Tangle Resistance

The X60 Max Ultra uses Dreame’s HyperStream DuoDivide main brush, designed to channel hair directly into the suction path rather than allowing it to wrap around the brush roll. In our 7-inch long hair test, it achieved 0% hair wrap — far better than the 46% category average. Excessive hair wrap can reduce brush agitation efficiency and place additional strain on the motor over time, so a genuinely effective anti-tangle system can make a measurable difference, particularly in homes with long hair or pets.

Advanced Mopping System with Heated Water and 21.5mm Mop Lift

The mopping system on the Dreame X60 received significant upgrades.

Its dual spinning mop pads now scrub floors using water warmed to 104°F (40°C), a feature increasingly appearing in premium robot vacuums. The system applies 15 newtons of downward pressure during mopping for enhanced scrubbing performance. One of the mop pads extends outward to improve cleaning along edges and furniture.

The mop pads lift 21.5 millimeters when transitioning over carpet, and they can also be left behind in the dock during vacuum-only runs. A mop lift exceeding 20 millimeters is relatively high. For comparison, the Roborock CurvX lifts its mop pads about 10 millimeters, which is more typical among lifting mop systems.

These features go a long way toward protecting carpets and rugs of varying thicknesses from unintended moisture exposure.

Mop Testing with Dried-on Stains and Water Left Behind

In our mopping evaluation, we measure two main factors: how effectively the robot removes dried-on stains, and how much water it uses in the process. Some robots score highly in stain removal but use excessive water, which can lead to streaking.

In our stain test, the X60 scored well above the average in coffee stain removal performance with a score of 136 points, far above the average is 93.

Although its water usage was slightly higher than the average at 1.4 grams, it was still considerably lower than the Roborock CurvX, which was 2.2 grams. When factoring in the water usage penalty, the combined mopping score landed slightly below average at 19.9 where the average is 22.8. However, for practical everyday use, it is a very capable mop.

Obstacle Avoidance with Binocular AI and Proactive Illumination

Obstacle avoidance was a major strength of the Dreame X60.

It uses binocular AI cameras and edge sensors that reportedly detect objects as small as 1 centimeter. The system can recognize and react to obstacles in 0.1 seconds (according to Dreame’s official specs), which is particularly valuable in homes with pets or children.

The X60 also features Proactive Illumination, a projector-style lighting assist system designed to detect hazards such as clear liquid spills. Dreame states that the robot is even programmed to avoid vacuuming over tasseled rug edges.

In our standard and torture obstacle avoidance tests, the X60 avoided 22 out of 24 objects. This score is well above the average of about 16 out of 24 and surpassed the Roborock CurvX, which scored 20 out of 24, making the X60 Max Ultra Complete a very strong obstacle avoidance performer.

Dock Features: Auto-Empty, Boiling Water Mop Wash, and Fast Charging

The dock system is another highlight.

The X60 empties its onboard dustbin into a 3.2-liter disposable dust bag. The dock washes mop pads using boiling-temperature water (212°F) and dries them with hot air. Fast charging is rated at 80 minutes for a full charge cycle.

The Max Ultra Complete version also includes automatic detergent refilling through a dual-compartment system—one reservoir for cleaning solution and another for pet odor control.

Dreame has indicated on its global sites that a future X60 Master version may become available, though timing and regional availability remain uncertain. Dreame’s “Master” docks are designed to integrate directly into home plumbing systems, automating even the refilling and draining of water tanks.

Smart Features, App Controls, and Matter Compatibility

The Dreame app continues to offer many of our favorite customization features:

  • Schedule automated cleanings
  • Select specific rooms or create custom cleaning zones
  • Set no-go zones and no-mop areas
  • Fine-tune nearly every aspect of the cleaning process through the app
  • Use the built-in voice assistant for direct verbal commands
  • Integrate with third-party voice assistants for smart home control

It is also Matter-capable, enabling communication across compatible smart home ecosystems. However, Matter rollout has been somewhat uneven across Dreame models, so firmware updates will play an important role.

To help preserve battery health, users can limit charging to between 80% and 100%, similar to smartphone battery management systems. This can extend long-term battery lifespan.

Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete: The Cons

Navigation and Battery Efficiency Drawbacks

No robot vacuum is perfect, and the X60 did have some weaknesses.

Navigation efficiency was slightly below average. The X60 uses retracting LiDAR, which lowers into the robot body for low-clearance cleaning. In our testing, retracting LiDAR systems don’t always perform as efficiently as fixed turret designs.

The X60 recorded a navigation efficiency of 0.64 meters per minute, which is slightly below the category average of 0.71 meters per minute.

Battery efficiency was another weaker point. While the official battery life is rated at 180 minutes, our test showed 1.38 minutes of runtime per 1% of battery life.

Combined, the lower navigation and battery efficiency resulted in an estimated 950 square feet cleaned per charge, which falls below the average of 1,170 square feet. Competing models achieved higher figures, making this a relative weakness.

That said, the fast charging dock and recharge-and-resume feature help offset these limitations in practical use.

Small 235ml Dustbin Trade-Off

Another downside is the relatively small onboard dustbin, which measures just 235 milliliters.

This is even smaller than the already compact bin (260ml) on the Roborock CurvX. For homes with a lot of pet hair to consider, this could increase the likelihood of overfilling or clogging.

However, when reducing overall robot height to 3.13 inches, trade-offs are inevitable. In this case, the larger dustbin seen on the previous X50 flagship appears to have been sacrificed to achieve the slimmer design.

The Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete’s 235ml onboard dustbin. Smaller than the 260ml bin on the Roborock CurvX, the reduced capacity is likely a trade-off for the robot’s slimmer 3.13-inch design. © Vacuum Wars
