Dreame has unveiled exciting new lineup additions at their Mid-2025 Launch Event! We are updating this guide with all the latest details as they are released โso stay tuned!
Dreame Series Overview
Dreame has five active series: the D series, the L series, the X series, the Aqua10, and the Matrix10. The models are numbered by generation within that series with the higher number being the more recent model (for example, the L20 will be older than the L40).
The D series is the entry level series. The D series got a refresh with the recent 2025 Dreame Product release with more advanced suction, anti-tangle brushes, and other upgrades. Jump to D Series
The L series is the mid-range series and is made up of the L10s family, the L20 Ultra model, the L40 Ultra model, the L40s refresh, and the new L50 Ultra. (The newer L robots carry a lot of the advanced features that are found on the premium X series with a comparable price tag, bumping them into premium range). Jump to L Series
The X series is a premium series for Dreame robot vacuums and includes their most prized features and innovations – carrying a price tag that reflects these enhancements. Jump to X Series
The Aqua10 series, released late in 2025, is Dreame’s first robot vacuum with a rolling mop system. Kitted out with some of the biggest advancements in Dreame Technology, the Aqua10 series is currently made up of 2 models. Jump to Aqua10.
The Matrix10 was announced alongside the Aqua10 models in 2025. With a unique multi-pad mopping system managed in the dock, the Matrix10 is the most advanced Dreame robot to date. This category has only one model so far. Jump to Matrix10.
Evolution of the Mopping Design
For a long while, Dreame maintained a consistent cleaning strategy. The first major change came with the L series, which introduced dual rotary mopheads in place of the older plate mop, which has to be manually removed and cleaned between uses. This switch to spinning mopheads opened the door to extending mop heads, automatically detaching mop heads, and mop maintenance in the dock, dramatically increasing hands-free cleaning.
Core Technologies
- Vormaxโข Suction System: All Dreame models use this trademarked suction technology. The suction power climbs with the robot lineup as each new generation improves performance.
- Mopping/Vacuum Combo: All current robots in the Dreame brand have a mopping ability, but the entry level D series lacks certain automations.
- Brush Systems: Early models use a single rising rubber main brush with an option to upgrade to the TriCut anti-tangle brush; many newer models now include DuoBrush anti-tangle system
- Pathfinder Smart Navigation: Dreame robots use LiDAR-based mapping and multiโfloor route planning to cover your home efficiently.
- App Control & Voice Integration: Each model supports control via the DreameHome app and is compatible with thirdโparty voice assistants like Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant.
Naming Conventions
Naming conventions in the Dreame brand are most important for understanding the L series, with Dreame’s six-member L10s family as the most confusing part of the lineup.
- “Max” is only used in the D9 Max Gen 2. It likely refers to an improved D9 over an original model which is no longer available, and it appears that the “Max” designation is retired after the D9 Max. The “Max” does not include a dock.
- โProโ refers to an enhanced version of a robot model. If a robot is named a โProโ only, then it doesnโt include a dock.
- โPlusโ includes a dock with an auto-empty dustbin.
- โUltraโ includes a dock with an auto-empty dustbin and mop-washing.
- โPro Ultraโ means an enhanced version of a robot with a dustbin-emptying and mop-washing “ultra” dock.
- โMasterโ indicates that the dock is integrated into the plumbing of your house without its own water tanks.
- โsโ (as in L10s or L40s): Dreame tags โsโ at the end of a family name to mark a sub-generation refresh, typically including upgrades to the robot’s intelligence or hardware.
Dreame seems to be following the unfortunate naming convention of attaching cryptic letters to variant models, as in the new CE and AE version of the L40s, that don’t signal much useful information to the user.
Dreame D Series: Entry Level Models
Dreame D Series Overview
The D series represents Dreameโs entry level models. This series includes the D9 Max Gen 2 and the D10 Plus Gen. It also got a members in the middle of 2025 with the D20 Plus and D20 Pro Plus
The D series is your โno-frills, just clean the floorโ option, best for homes without many transitions between carpet and hard floors and not too much floor-clutter.
Dreame D Series Features
D Series Navigation
Navigation is handled with LiDAR sensors (trademarked as โPathfinder Navigationโ) and basic obstacle detection. They use an impact plate sensor (which means it may gently bump into stuff before it senses anything, then moves along or around the obstacle until it senses the path is open again).
The notable exception to this is the new D20 Pro Plus, which was released in mid-2025 with the addition of 3D structured light obstacle avoidance. This is the first member of the D series with obstacle avoidance.
D Series Mopping
The D series models use a plate mop system rather than the newer dual rotary mop heads. This mop pad is pulled behind the robot, while the water tank replenishes the water in the pad at 3 adjustable rates of flow. A plate mop has to be removed and cleaned between uses, and it will not lift over carpets, so you will need to do separate runs for mopping and vacuuming.

Mop Automation
In our opinion, one of the biggest direct effects on the user experience of having a robot vacuum/mop combo is having to manually remove and clean mop pads yourself. A plate mop will do a fine job of mopping your floor, but you have to add or remove the pad and conduct different runs for mopping and vacuuming, which can become a hassle in a home with a lot of transitions between hard floors and carpets.
If this sounds too hands-on for you, consider a model in the L series starting at the L10s Ultra, where the mop washing and drying, detergent dispensing, and tank refilling is handled for you in the dock. Jump to L series
D Series Brushes
Early D-series models have a fixed side brush and a โFloatingโ all-rubber main brush. This brush lifts over carpet and other obstacles to prevent battering the brush or getting stuck. The single rubber brush can be swapped out for the TriCut Anti-Tangle brush which is sold separately. The TriCut slices long hair before it can tangle around the brush and is a good option for users who are likely to need this.
The D20 Plus and the D20 Pro Plus exchanged the single brush with the DuoBrush that had been previously reserved for the premium Dreame robots. This was a huge change for the D series, allowing the D20 Plus to manage hair tangles out of the box without purchasing a TriCut add-on.
The D20 Pro Plus includes an extending side brush and edge sensors to reach into corners.

D series Docks
This series does not have much in the way of docking features. The D9 Max Gen 2 has no dock at all, and the D10 Plus Gen 2 and the D20 models have an auto emptying dustbin that empties into a bag in the dock. Docking features become more robust in the L series.
Dreame D Series Models
The D9 Max Gen 2 model comes without a dock: it has a charger only and a larger dustbin to accommodate the greater accumulation of dust. It also has a larger-capacity water tank on board the robot. The robotโs dustbin must be emptied manually.

The D10 Plus Gen 2 model has a smaller water tank than the D9 Max Gen 2 and a smaller dustbin on board the robot. The dustbin is emptied automatically into its accompanying dock, which they claim can go up to 90 days before needing maintenance.
The new D20 Plus and D20 Pro Plus make a significant leap in official suction over the older D models, more than doubling it to 13,000Pa. The D20 Pro Plus also has a carpet boost feature, where it increases its suction when it senses carpet. With the inclusion of the anti-tangle DuoBrush and a bigger battery, this D20 refresh is meant to boost the cleaning performance of Dreame’s entry-level line.

Dreame L Series: MidโRange Models and Advances in Mopping and Automation
Dreame L Series Overview
The L series moves away from plate mops and introduces dual rotary mop heads, which provide a scrubbing action that the plate mops lack. These models also feature better navigation, enhanced obstacle avoidance, and more advanced docking stations that can empty dustbins and take care of mop maintenance. These models lift their mops over carpet, so you donโt have to do separate mop and vacuum runs, greatly enhancing automation.
The Dreame L series has five generations, the L10s, the L20, the L40, the L40s, and the L50. The L10s has six members, and this generation is the trickiest to understand. We will try to simplify it for you here. The naming conventions listed above are important to understanding the L10s series.
All models in the L series except for the L10s Pro Gen 2 have an auto empty dustbin (the L10s Pro Gen 2 has no dock, only a charger), and the L10s Plus is the only robot with a dock that does not have automated mop washing. All L models with mop maintenance (an ‘Ultra’ dock) include Auto Detergent Dispensing.
In mid-2025, Dreame introduced the L40s refresh with three new models (L40s Ultra / L40s Ultra AE / L40s Ultra CE) and the L50 Ultra, which expand obstacle-clearing, brush options, suction, and dock capabilities within the L lineup, bringing them closer to the specs (and prices) of the X series.
Dreame L Series Features
L series Navigation and Obstacle Avoidance
All L series models use Pathfinder LiDAR navigation with some improvements over the D series. LiDAR combines with 3D structured light for more effective obstacle avoidance, and higher-level models incorporate additional sensors, AI, and a RGB camera for obstacle recognition. The L40 Ultra, the L40s Ultra AE, and the L50 Ultra have all of the bells and whistles for obstacle avoidance, utilizing a combination of lasers, AI, RGB camera, and LED lighting for obstacle avoidance, a system that performed very well in our tests on the original L40 Ultra.

A Word About Cameras
RGB cameras see the spectrum of light that is visible to humans and are widely used in phones and other consumer electronics. RGB cameras in general are an important part of Dreame’s obstacle avoidance strategy.
Dreame L models without RGB Cameras
| Model | System used instead of an RGB camera |
|---|---|
| L10s Pro Gen 2 | LiDAR (LDS) + line-laser (structured light) obstacle sensing |
| L10s Plus | LiDAR (LDS) + line-laser (structured light) obstacle sensing |
| L10s Ultra Gen 2 | LiDAR (LDS) + 3D line-laser (structured light) obstacle sensing |
| L40s Ultra | LiDAR (Pathfinder/LDS) + 3D structured light (no RGB/video features) |
| L40s Ultra CE | LiDAR (Pathfinder/LDS) + 3DAdapt structured-light avoidance (no RGB/video features) |
Note: These models donโt list an onboard RGB camera in their user manuals or hardware specs
The rest of the L series and all of the X series have RGB cameras and their accompanying app features like remote video monitoring.
L series Mopping
As noted before, the Dreame L series makes a big shift from plate mop to dual rotary mopheads, which are two mop pads that spin in opposite directions for a scrubbing action, where the previous D series only used a plate mophead. This greatly increased the automation possible for mopping. These mops lift over carpet, at first only 7mm in the L10s Pro Gen 2, the L10s Plus, and the L10s Ultra, then 10.5mm from the L10s Ultra Gen 2 and onward.

Dual spinning mopheads also allowed for the possibility of automatic mophead detaching, which is first seen on the L20 Ultra and continues through the lineup. We also see:
- MopExtend Technology: Automatically extends the mop pad laterally to clean edges and corners more thoroughly.
- RoboSwing Technology: Provides an active swinging motion to help clean under low furniture and in tight spaces. (Note that some L models, such as the L10s Ultra Gen 2, may only offer MopExtend without the RoboSwing function.)

L series Brushes
As in the D series, L series models have a fixed side brush. he L40 Ultra, the L40s Ultra, and the L50 Ultra model, which has an extending, lifting side brush to reach deeper into corners.
There are three main brush types. The L series robots have a โFloatingโ all-rubber main brush that lifts over carpet and other obstacles to prevent battering.
The single rubber brush can be swapped out for the TriCut Anti-Tangle brush which is usually sold separately. The TriCut slices long hair before it can tangle around the brush and is a good addition for users with pets or household members with long hair. The L40s Ultra AE and L40s Ultra CE both ship with a TriCut brush, and the L40s Ultra and the L50 Ultra have the detangling DuoBrush that used to be only available on the X series.
| Model | Side brush | Main brush system | Anti-tangle |

L series Docks
Except for the L10s Pro Gen 2 (no dock) and the L10s Plus (with only dustbin emptying), all other L models now come with docks that empty the dustbin AND wash and dry the mop pads with a range of days estimated for hands-off maintenance. Some newer models use hot water for faster and more sanitary mop-washing (see table below).
CleanGeniusโข dirt detection first appears in the L10s Pro Ultra and becomes standard on Dreame robot vacuums from then on. This technology senses dirt in the dock. If the mop pads are especially dirty, the robot will trigger a rewash of the area where the excess dirt was detected.
Fast Charging is introduced on the L10s Ultra Gen 2 and becomes a standard feature.
Washboard Cleaning, where the part of the dock that cleans the mop pads also cleans itself, first appears on the L40 and becomes a standard dock feature in the X series.

Special Feature: Threshold clearing
The L40s Ultraโs EasyLeap clears double-layer thresholds up to 1.57 in (and 0.87 in single-step), a big jump over the L40 Ultraโs ~0.86 in spec and most mid-range robots. This gives the L40s Ultra the ability to climb a tiered threshold of up to 39mm.
Dreameโs ProLeapโข system brings the brandโs most dramatic mobility upgrade to the L series, previously seen only on the flagship X50. Using retractable โlegs,” the L50 Ultra can climb single vertical steps up to 1.65 in (โ42 mm) and traverse double-layer thresholds up to 2.36 in (โ60 mm), including sliding-door tracks and U-shaped chair bases. In practice, that means fewer no-go zones, less babysitting, and better room-to-room coverage in real homes with mixed flooring and raised transitions.

Dreame X Series: Premium Models and Breakthrough Innovations
Update โ August 13, 2025
Weโve published a follow-up with recurring issues and solutions for the Dreame X50 Ultra robot vacuum. Read our Dreame X50 Ultra: Common Complaints (and Fixes) for the latest details.
Dreame X Series Overview
The X series represents Dreameโs highest-end models. They offer the most advanced automation and are designed for users who want a very handsโoff experience. It is in the X lineup where several docking features that were rolled out a little at a time in the L series become standard. In the X series, all “Ultra” docks have:
- Automatic Detergent Dispensing
- Hot water mop cleaning
- Detachable mopheads
- Auto tank refill
- Washboard cleaning
- Fast Charging
- Smart Dirt Detection
Other common features across the X series:
- Dual Rotary Mopheads
- Advanced AI Navigation: These models integrate AI with RGB cameras, 3D structured light, LED lights, and LiDAR for precise mapping and obstacle avoidance.
- 6400mAh Batteries: increased battery life and more powerful suction than previous series.
Dreame X Series Features
X series Navigation and Obstacle Avoidance
Dreame performs well in our obstacle avoidance tests thanks to a multi-technology approach.
- Sensor Fusion: Combines retracting LiDAR, AIโdriven RGB cameras, and LED illumination to detect even small obstacles in low light.
- Remote Video Monitoring: All X models include live video monitoring, which can be useful for pet owners and security purposes.
X series Mopping
Dreame’s X models all include the MopExtend feature, where one of the mopheads stretches to the side to reach along edges, and RoboSwing, which adds an active swinging motion to the extending mop to effectively scrub under low clearances. All mop heads in the X series detach into the dock for vacuum-only runs.
X series brushes
The X30 Ultra uses a fixed side brush as in the D series and most of the L series, but in the X40 Ultra, X40 Master, and X50 Ultra, the extendable, lifting side brush becomes a regular fixture. This extending side brush can reach into corners and lift over obstacles to prevent collisions and tangles.
The X30 Ultra, the X40 Ultra, and the X40 Master use the all rubber floating brush that can be replaced with a TriCut antitangle brush, which must be purchased separately.
With the X50 Ultra, we see the first big change in main brush design in the Dreame lineup with the usage of a DuoBrush, where two brushes spin opposite each other for increased suction, which the X50 Ultra boasts at 20,000Pa.

X series Docks
Dreame’s X series robots with “Ultra” in the name all share basically the same docking features (listed above).
The “Master” X40 model, however, does not have water tanks in the dock, instead using your home’s plumbing system to manage clean and used water from the robot’s mop. We have been interested in this new trend of plumbing integrated robot vacuums, and we expect to see a lot more of these in the future. If you do not want plumbing integration, you must purchase the X40 Ultra instead of the X40 Master.

X Series Suction
With a greater battery capacity, the X series makes some major increases in suction power, maxing out (for now) with 20,000Pa on the new X50 Ultra.
| Model | Suction |
| X30 Ultra | 8,300Pa |
| X40 Ultra | 12,000Pa |
| X40 Master | 12,000Pa |
| X50 Ultra | 20,000Pa |

X50 Ultra – New Innovations
The latest X50 Ultra flagship model introduces a major, industry-first innovationโthreshold climbing up to 60mm, which is a significant upgrade over the typical 20โฏmm. This allows the Dreame X50 Ultra to climb a tiered threshold (think a sliding door track) that would otherwise block the path of a robot vacuum.
The X50 Ultra also sports a retracting LiDAR, which brings the profile of the robot down to 89mm for low clearances, Dreame’s slimmest design to date.

Aqua10 Series
Dreame Aqua10 Series Overview
Released in late 2025, the Aqua10 is Dreameโs first lineup with a roller mopping system instead of dual rotary pads. The roller continuously washes with clean water while vacuuming, squeegees dirty water into an on-board dirty water tank, then empties dirty water in the dock. Both Aqua10 models include a full-function PowerDock that automates dustbin emptying, hot-water roller cleaning, and drying. Compared with L/X series rotary mops, Aqua10 aims for deeper, streak-free hard-floor cleaning and stronger hair management, while still protecting carpets.
The Aqua10 series is currently made up of 2 models, the Aqua10 Roller and the more advanced Aqua10 Ultra Roller.
Aqua10 Features
Navigation & Threshold Handling
OmniSight 2.0 sensor fusion with the same auto-retracting LiDAR turret that was first introduced on the X50 Ultra, and uses binocular vision for AI object recognition and avoidance.
For threshold handling, the Aqua10 Roller takes the industry-leading 60mm tiered threshold climbing that was previously released on the X50 Ultra, while the Aqua10 Ultra Roller climbs even higher with tiered thresholds of up to 80mm.
Roller Mopping System
The roller mop design is the headlining feature of the Aqua10 series. The AquaRollโข mop system continuously sprays fresh water on the roller and extracts dirty water in real time. The roller is 10.4 inches wide and can extend to the side for coverage along edges.
On the Aqua10 Ultra Roller, a counter-spinning FluffRollโข module spins counter to the roller and helps keep the roller from packing down with use to improve friction and contact with the floor’s surface.

When it’s time to vacuum carpets, the AutoSealโข roller guard closes over the roller to prevent contact with the carpet fibers, and on the Aqua10 Ultra Roller, the mop also lifts 0.55 in to prevent damp carpets and odors.
Brushes & Hair Management
HyperStreamโข detangling DuoBrush main brush system with a 100% hair-detangling claim to reduce maintenance. The Aqua10 models both have an extending side brush for corner reach.
Docking & Automation
The All-in-one Powerdock prioritizes sanitation more than ever with a boiling hot water (212 ยฐF) roller deep clean. The Aqua10 Ultra Roller also boasts a new dual detergent system – one for cleaning solution in the clean water tank, and one solution for odor control in the dirty water tank. Both Aqua10 models include:
- Auto-empty (up to 100 days).
- Hot-air drying.
- Auto-refill of clean water and detergent (dual-detergent support).
- Dirt detection rewash logic.

App, Voice, & Pet Features
You can control the robot through the DreameHome app, with third-party voice assistants such as Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri, or by using Dreameโs native โOK Dreameโ voice commands. The Aqua10 also highlights pet-friendly features, including โpet vlogsโ that record your petโs day, along with tools that can entertain your pet, clean up after it, and show its location while youโre away.
Suction
Both models list 30,000 Pa Vormaxโข suction, the highest in Dreameโs lineup at the time of launch. (Dreame’s previous flagship model, the X50 Ultra, had only 20,000Pa of official suction.)

Matrix10 Series
Dreame Matrix10 Series Overview
Announced alongside Aqua10 in 2025, Matrix10 is Dreameโs most advanced robot to date. Its hallmark is a Multi-Mop Switching Dock that automatically swaps mop types for different zones to reduce cross-contamination and tailor cleaning to floor materials. Matrix10 also boasts the robot vacuum industry’s highest threshold climbing for tiered thresholds of up to 3.15 in (โ80 mm) using retractable legs and adaptive suspensionโbridging gaps that stop other robots.
Matrix10 Features
Navigation & Obstacle Avoidance
Matrix10 uses Dreameโs OmniSight sensor fusionโcombining VersaLift retracting LiDAR with Smart 3DAdapt obstacle avoidance and LED illuminationโto maintain low-light accuracy, and itโs rated to recognize and avoid 240+ object types.
The threshold climbing on the Matrix10 is Dreame’s new industry leading level of 80mm (3.15 inches) for tiered thresholds, such as sliding doors and other complex room transitions.
Mopping System
The Matrix10 retains the dual spinning mophead design but adds a twist: the dock stores three mop-pad textures, each optimized for different floor types, and automatically swaps them between rooms. This ensures every surface gets the right pad while minimizing cross-contamination between spaces like bathrooms and the kitchen, and the mops lift over carpet to keep fibers dry.

Brushes & Hair Management
The Matrix10 pairs a HyperStreamโข detangling DuoBrushโrated for 100% detangling to minimize hair wrap and maintenanceโwith an extending side brush that reaches deeper into corners and along edges for more complete coverage.
Docking & Automation
Matrix10โs all-in-one PowerDock is Dreame’s most innovative dock yet, taking sanitation to the next level. Instead of sending one set of pads through your whole house, the dock auto-swaps mop types between rooms, so tile, laminate, and other hard floors each get the right texture and cross-contamination is kept to a minimum. After each run (and even mid-run when needed), the dock performs a boiling-water deep clean at 212 ยฐF that flushes grime from the pads, reducing odors and keeping the mops sanitary for the next zone.
There are compartments for 3 types of solution: floor cleaning and wood cleaning for the clean water tank, and an odor managing solution for the dirty tank.
Beyond mop handling, the dock also automates the routine upkeep that makes the robot truly hands-off:
- Auto-emptying the dustbin
- Self-refill of clean water and solution
- Hot-air drying of the mop pads
- Fast charging between jobs
- Smart dirt detection to trigger targeted re-cleaning

Suction
