The Dreame L40 Robot Vacuum Mop Combo stands out as an exceptional valuewhile offering nearly identical features found in pricier models. It excels at vacuuming hard floors and carpets, boasting above-average suction power and airflow, and demonstrates extraordinary battery life that surpasses competitors with an impressive efficiency score. Its mopping capabilities are remarkable, utilizing dual spinning mop pads with electronically controlled water dispensing and automatic lifting to prevent carpet wetting, allowing for efficient simultaneous vacuuming and mopping. Innovative features like the automatically extending side brush enhance corner cleaning, and its advanced obstacle avoidance system—using cameras, structured light, and infrared beams—ranks significantly above average in tests. The automated charging station not only empties the dustbin but also washes and dries the mop pads with hot water and air, refills the mop tank, and includes a self-cleaning mechanism to prevent hair and debris buildup. While the Dreame app enhances user experience with customization options and live video monitoring, it has received lower ratings on the Android store compared to iOS. On the downside, the L40 struggles with pet hair pickup and experienced significant hair tangling in tests; however, purchasing the optional Tri-Cut Brush dramatically improves performance in this area. Key Features
The L40 Ultra introduces the SideReach technology, which extends a side brush to efficiently clean wall corners and around furniture legs. In addition, the robot incorporates OmniDirt detection and MopExtend RoboSwing technologies to detect stubborn messes and clean tight spaces like under furniture and in corners.
High Suction Power
With 11,000Pa suction and five customizable levels, the L40 Ultra is built to tackle a variety of floor surfaces. This marks an increase over its predecessor, the Dreame L20, which offers 7,000Pa of suction power.
Enhanced Maintenance and App Control
The L40 Ultra offers an auto-maintenance system, including a mop cleaning function that uses 149°F hot water to wash both the mop and the washboard simultaneously, helping to reduce stains and unpleasant odors. Users can customize this feature with four different temperature settings directly through the Dreamehome app.
The app also allows for smart navigation customization, including setting pet zones, adjusting mopping levels, and controlling cleaning modes. The L40 Ultra uses a combination of 3D structured light, a built-in camera, and LED lights to navigate, with the added benefit of voice command control.
Battery Life
Additionally, it operates with a 5,200mAh battery that Dreame says will provide up to 194 minutes of cleaning on a single charge. The device covers up to 181m² (1,948ft²), making it suitable for larger homes. It also offers 30% faster charging and the option to schedule charging during off-peak hours to optimize energy use.
