Dyson has officially launched the PencilWash wet and dry hard-floor cleaner in select markets, expanding its growing floorcare lineup. The new model follows the design philosophy of the Dyson PencilVac, carrying over its slim, minimalist form factor into the wet-cleaning category.

Carrying Over the PencilVac Blueprint
At first glance, the PencilWash closely resembles the Dyson PencilVac. It features the same ultra-slim 38 mm (1.5-inch) handle, which houses the motor, battery, and electronics within a narrow cylindrical tube. The design shifts the bulk toward the cleaning head, creating a lightweight, balanced feel in hand.
Weighing approximately 2.2 kg (4.9 lb) without water or cleaning solution, the PencilWash is built for maneuverability. It can also lie nearly flat, allowing users to clean under low-profile furniture more easily than with traditional upright wet cleaners.

Wet Cleaning System and Performance
The cleaning head incorporates a high-density microfiber roller combined with a pressurized hydration system that dispenses water evenly across the floor. Dirty water is collected during operation, and Dyson states that the system does not rely on traditional replaceable filters.

Dyson claims up to 30 minutes of runtime on a full charge, with a swappable battery available for extended sessions. The company also says the PencilWash is engineered to leave floors drying quickly thanks to controlled water distribution and efficient pickup.
Positioning and Availability
Unlike larger, bulkier wet floor cleaners, the PencilWash prioritizes portability and ease of use. It is positioned as a more compact and potentially more affordable alternative within Dyson’s wet floor category.
The PencilWash has launched in the UK and select European markets, with a broader global rollout expected. Pricing is reported to be around €349 / $349 depending on region.
