Bissell Recalls Over 1 Million Steam Shot OmniReach Steam Cleaners Due to Burn Hazard

Bissell has announced a large-scale recall of its Steam Shot OmniReach and Steam Shot Omni handheld steam cleaners, affecting more than one million units in the U.S. The recall was issued due to a potential burn hazard involving the product’s detachable attachments.

Full details are available in the official U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission notice.

What Is the Safety Issue?

According to the CPSC, the attachments on these steam cleaners can unexpectedly detach during use. When this occurs, hot water or steam may be expelled, posing a serious burn risk to users.

Bissell has received hundreds of reports related to this issue, including numerous cases involving minor to more serious burn injuries.

Affected Models and Availability

The recall includes multiple units within the Steam Shot OmniReach and Steam Shot Omni product lines, particularly within the 4155 and 4171 series. These products were sold nationwide at major retailers, as well as through online platforms including Bissell’s official website and other e-commerce channels. Sales occurred between October 2024 and March 2026.

What Consumers Should Do

Consumers are advised to stop using the affected attachments immediately. Bissell is offering free replacement attachments as part of the recall remedy. Customers can contact the company directly at www.steamshot2026.com  for instructions on how to receive the updated components.

Context and Industry Impact

Steam cleaners are widely used for chemical-free cleaning, but they rely on high-temperature pressurized steam. Incidents like this highlight the importance of secure component design, particularly for handheld units where attachments are frequently changed during use.

This recall also follows previous recalls involving similar Bissell Steam Shot products, suggesting ongoing scrutiny of this category.

Bottom Line

Owners of Bissell Steam Shot OmniReach or Steam Shot Omni models should verify whether their unit is included in the recall and take action promptly.
