The Dreame L60 Ultra PE earns our pick in the $600–$1,000 price category because it delivers unusually strong real-world cleaning performance, advanced obstacle avoidance, and premium dock automation at a more accessible price than many flagship robot vacuum and mop systems. After we tested it, the L60 Ultra PE quickly moved into the number one spot on our Top 20 Best Robot Vacuum list. That was partly because of how well it performed in areas that matter most for everyday cleaning, including carpet deep cleaning, pet hair pickup, long-hair resistance, obstacle avoidance, and navigation.
The L60 Ultra PE is part of Dreame’s newer L60 family, which also includes the L60 Pro Ultra, L60 Ultra, and L60 Ultra FE. The names can be confusing, so it is worth noting that this article focuses specifically on the PE version, which is one of the value-focused models in the lineup.
Excellent Vacuuming and Pet Hair Performance
The L60 Ultra PE’s strongest results came from our vacuuming tests. It uses Dreame’s Vormax suction system, rated at 30,000 Pascals, along with the HyperStream DuoBrush design used on several Dreame mid-range and premium models. In our carpet deep-cleaning test, where we embed sand into medium-pile carpet, the L60 Ultra PE removed 94% of the debris. That was far above the 78% average and was the second-highest score we have recorded in this test from a dataset of nearly 200 robot vacuums.
It also scored a rare 100% in our flattened pet hair pickup test and had 0% hair wrap in our 7-inch hair tangle test. Those results make the L60 Ultra PE especially appealing for homes with pets or long hair.
This was also one of the clearest differences between the L60 Ultra PE and the L60 Ultra FE. The PE’s HyperStream DuoBrush system substantially outperformed the FE version in pet hair pickup, and we have generally seen more consistent anti-tangle results from this dual-brush design.
Strong Obstacle Avoidance for the Price
Obstacle avoidance was another major reason the L60 Ultra PE ranked so highly. It uses an AI-powered camera and 3D Time-of-Flight sensors, while the L60 Ultra FE uses a simpler laser-only system. That hardware difference showed up clearly in our testing. The L60 Ultra PE avoided 21 out of 24 objects, well above the 16 out of 24 average. By comparison, the L60 Ultra FE avoided only 2 out of 24 objects, which was the lowest score we have recorded for a robot vacuum with obstacle avoidance.
For homes with cords, toys, pet-related clutter, or other small objects on the floor, the PE version is the much stronger choice.
Capable Navigation and Mopping
The L60 Ultra PE uses a top-mounted spinning LiDAR system for mapping and navigation. Its routing was efficient, covering more square meters per minute than average, and its estimated square footage per charge was also slightly above average. It also supports recharge and resume, along with fast charging in the dock.
Its mopping system includes dual spinning mop pads, 13 Newtons of downward pressure, edge-extension mopping, and 10.5 mm mop lifting for carpets. In our stain removal test, the L60 Ultra PE was slightly below average, mostly because it used very little water even on its highest setting. However, its combined mopping score was still well above average, making it a capable option for everyday maintenance mopping.
Premium Dock and Smart Features
The dock is another reason the L60 Ultra PE stands out in this price category. It automatically empties the dustbin, washes the mop pads with boiling water, dries them with hot air, self-cleans with boiling water, and refills the robot’s mop water tank with clean water and detergent.
Dreame’s app is also a strength. It offers detailed scheduling, mapping controls, no-go zones, no-mop zones, room-by-room customization, floor-direction cleaning, an onboard voice assistant, and Matter support for smart home integration.
A Few Minor Drawbacks
The L60 Ultra PE had a few weaker results, but none were serious enough to outweigh its strengths. While its real-world vacuuming performance was strong, its suction and airflow bench test results were below average. It still scored extremely well in our carpet deep-cleaning, pet hair, and hair-tangle tests.
While its mopping score was strong overall, its stain removal could have been better with slightly higher water output. And its 250 mL dustbin is also smaller than average, which may matter in homes with a lot of bulky debris.
