Robotin has announced the global Kickstarter launch of the R2, a new robot vacuum it describes as the first fully autonomous carpet cleaner. It’s unlike robot vacuum mop combos designed to mop hard floors while also vacuuming both hard floors and carpets. The R2 is positioned as a premium-grade robot vacuum and carpet cleaner with a heated drying mode. It combines several systems into one platform, with separate modules for vacuuming and carpet cleaning, supported by an automated base station.

Modular Design
One of the R2’s defining aspects is its 2-in-1 modular design. The vacuuming and wash-and-dry modules can be swapped, allowing the robot to adapt to different tasks. Robotin positions this modularity as both performance-driven and eco-friendly, with components that can be replaced or upgraded over time.
Carpet Cleaning Key Features
In carpet cleaning mode, the Robotin R2 applies water, scrubs, and extracts residue, then completes the cycle with heated air drying. A self-refilling and emptying station supports the process, allowing up to 300–400 square feet of carpet to be cleaned per cycle without intervention.

Automated Base Station
The R2 is paired with an automated base station designed to manage both clean and dirty water. It features a 2.4-gallon clean water tank that refills the robot as needed and a 1.6-gallon dirty water tank that collects wastewater after carpet washing. By handling refills and wastewater disposal, the station reduces hands-on maintenance and allows the R2 robot carpet cleaner to complete full cleaning cycles with minimal user intervention.
Robot Vacuum Key Features
In vacuum mode, the Robotin R2 functions as a full-featured robot vacuum designed for both carpets and hard floors. It delivers up to 115 air watts of suction with an airflow rating of 48 CFM, placing it in the range of premium robot vacuums. The system uses an industrial-grade motor paired with an anti-tangle brush to capture dirt, debris, and pet hair while reducing clogs and maintenance. A large 1.8-liter dust bin, which the brand states will hold up to two months of debris, enables extended use.

Navigation and Controls
Robotin equips the R2 with an AI-Perception System that uses 12 sensor types, a sensor fusion algorithm, and AI navigation to detect floor materials, map carpets precisely, avoid obstacles, and plan efficient cleaning paths.

Control is handled through a dedicated mobile app that supports multi-floor mapping, carpet or area selection, scheduling, dock management, and No-Go Zones. Users can view real-time cleaning progress and adjust settings directly through the app.

Development Timeline
Robotin began developing the R2 in 2023 with its first engineering prototypes. In 2024, the company introduced a modular design capable of both carpet washing and vacuuming, along with an early docking station. Throughout 2025, refinements led to fully functional robot and station prototypes, culminating in a Kickstarter launch in September. Trial production is expected to begin late 2025, with shipping projected for spring 2026 and mass production following soon after.
Position in the Market
While the Robotin R2 focuses exclusively on carpet care and lacks a hard floor mopping function, its development still represents a notable step forward in robotic cleaning. Consumer needs differ, and not every household requires the same combination of features. By targeting deep carpet cleaning, Robotin is addressing a market gap rather than duplicating what many hybrid robot vacuums already do. It is notable that manufacturers are still experimenting and broadening the range of options available to consumers.
Future Expansion?
Beyond the robot carpet cleaner focus, Robotin has teased the addition of a robotic arm module on its website, pointing to broader ambitions for the platform. Read more from Vacuum Wars on robot vacuum arm technology.
