Lightweight but Still a Strong Performer
Despite its ultra-light design, the Dyson Digital Slim delivers above-average performance. It earned a Sealed Suction (Max Power) score of 90, significantly higher than the cordless average of 74.
Its pickup score of 28 also beat the category average of 26.4. In short, it’s not just light—it’s effective.

Some Trade-Offs to Consider
Unsurprisingly, making a vacuum this light comes with trade-offs. The battery life on the Dyson Digital Slim is relatively limited, particularly on the medium power setting—the one most people use. You can expect about 35 minutes on low power, 20 minutes on medium, and just 8 minutes on max.
Another downside is its extremely small dustbin, which is the smallest of all Dyson’s offerings. At 378 ml, it’s nearly the same size as a typical robot vacuum’s bin (378 ml) and about half the size of an average cordless vacuum bin (761 ml), which means you’ll need to empty it frequently during larger jobs.
Price Considerations
Finally, there’s the price. The Dyson Digital Slim is on the more expensive side, especially given its limited runtime and small bin size. For a more budget-friendly lightweight option, vacuums like the Tikom V500 and Smoture VAC2 offer decent performance and are lighter than average—though not nearly as light as the Digital Slim.
