ECOVACS X12s Robot Vacuum Unveiled at IFA 2026 in Berlin

ECOVACS has unveiled the DEEBOT X12S OmniCyclone at IFA 2026 in Berlin, introducing a next-generation version of the X12 OmniCyclone with higher suction and several new systems designed to reduce routine maintenance.

The X12S is particularly interesting to us because it builds directly on the DEEBOT X12 OmniCyclone, which we reviewed earlier this year. Rather than replacing the X12’s core cleaning system, the new X12S largely retains that platform while concentrating its upgrades on vacuuming performance, internal cleaning, and dock automation.

ECOVACS X12S Increases Suction to 27,000 Pa

One of the biggest changes is an increase to 27,000 Pa of suction, which ECOVACS says is 23% higher than the X12. ECOVACS also rates the X12S at 53 air watts during normal operation. The company says changes to the fan and internal airflow improve dust removal without increasing operating noise.

But the update isn’t limited to the motor. ECOVACS has added new suction inlet guide wheels designed to improve the seal between the robot and carpets or rugs. The goal is to make better use of the available suction when cleaning textured and plush surfaces, where maintaining a consistent seal can be more difficult.

X12S OMNI Station Adds More Automated Cleaning

Some of the more unusual X12S upgrades are found in the OMNI Station and inside the robot itself.

Following a mop-washing cycle, the station uses a 40,000 Pa high-pressure air pump as part of a system that pressure-washes the OZMO Roller 3.0 mop and rinses debris and sediment from the mop tray.

ECOVACS has also addressed maintenance inside the robot. A small propeller capable of spinning at up to 6,000 rpm agitates the robot’s dirty-water tank to help clean it, while the robot’s air duct and dustbin can be dried with hot air.

The station’s own water tank can also be heated on a schedule, with upgraded membrane materials intended to reduce odor buildup.

The station automatically refills the robot’s clean-water tank with hot water and dispenses cleaning solution as needed. Combined with automatic mop washing, internal cleaning, drying, and dust collection, the changes are intended to reduce how frequently the X12S needs to be cleaned manually.

PureCyclone Auto-Emptying Doesn’t Require Dust Bags

Like the X12 OmniCyclone, the X12S uses ECOVACS’ PureCyclone bagless auto-empty system rather than disposable dust bags.

After cleaning, debris collected by the robot is transferred into the station’s reusable dust container. This eliminates one of the recurring consumables associated with many self-emptying robot vacuum docks.

The X12S also uses PowerBoost Charging Plus, which allows the robot to add charge to its battery during the short periods it spends at the dock washing its mop. Instead of relying entirely on longer dedicated charging sessions, the robot can use these brief stops to extend its cleaning time during larger jobs.

OZMO Roller 3.0 and FocusJet Return From the X12

The X12S retains much of the cleaning hardware introduced with the X12, including the OZMO Roller 3.0 mopping system with FocusJet.

Rather than using spinning mop pads, the system continuously cleans a roller mop as the robot travels. Pressurized nozzles rinse the roller during operation, while FocusJet applies water ahead of it to help loosen dried-on stains.

The X12S can lift its mop roller by 15 mm when transitioning onto carpet. ECOVACS also uses what it calls a Mop Roller Smart Cover to help keep the wet roller separated from carpeted surfaces.

Edge cleaning is handled by TruEdge 3.0, which uses a 3D edge sensor to help the robot clean close to walls and baseboards.

TruePass Climbing and AIVI 3D 4.0 Obstacle Avoidance

The X12S includes ECOVACS’ TruePass adaptive climbing system for navigating thresholds and other floor transitions. For obstacle avoidance, the robot uses AIVI 3D 4.0, a camera-powered obstacle avoidance which ECOVACS says can recognize and navigate around common household objects such as cables.

AGENT YIKO 3.0 Can Remember Cleaning Preferences

ECOVACS is also updating its onboard voice-control system with AGENT YIKO 3.0. Users can give the X12S cleaning instructions by voice, but the new version is designed to determine whether an instruction is a one-time request or a longer-term cleaning preference that should be remembered.

That could allow users to make persistent adjustments to their cleaning routines conversationally rather than changing individual settings within the ECOVACS app.

On paper, the X12S looks less like a redesign of the X12 than an effort to refine a strong-performing platform. The core roller-mopping and obstacle-avoidance systems remain, while ECOVACS has focused this generation on higher vacuuming power and automating some of the less pleasant maintenance that remains even with modern self-cleaning docks.

Since we had good results with the original X12 in both our studio testing and long-term home use, we’re interested to see whether the X12S’s higher suction and expanded self-cleaning systems translate into meaningful improvements in our tests.
