Dreame L60 Ultra PE Review: Flagship-Level Cleaning at a Mid-Range Position

The Dreame L60 Ultra PE is a mid-range robot vacuum and mop from Dreame’s new L60 family, but its performance frequently looked more like that of a premium model. After several weeks of studio evaluations, it quickly became one of the most impressive robot vacuums we had reviewed in its segment.

We purchased the L60 Ultra PE with our own money, and this review is not sponsored. We evaluated its vacuuming, pet-hair pickup, hair-tangle resistance, obstacle avoidance, threshold climbing, mopping*, navigation, battery efficiency, and dock automation to determine where it fits in Dreame’s increasingly crowded lineup.

The results were strong enough to send the L60 Ultra PE directly to the top of our Top 20 Robot Vacuum rankings at the time of review.

*The combined mopping score for the L60 Ultra PE was incorrectly reported as above average in our video review due to human error. The scores have been corrected below, and the robot’s ranking is unaffected.

The Quick Verdict: Dreame L60 Ultra PE

The Dreame L60 Ultra PE is a strong mid-range robot vacuum for homes with carpets, pets, long hair, or floor clutter. It delivered excellent carpet and pet-hair pickup, avoided 21 of 24 objects, and had no hair wrap in our seven-inch test.

Its main weaknesses were below-average stain removal, a small dustbin, and low suction and airflow measurements, though those bench results did not hurt real-world cleaning. With efficient navigation, dual-pad mopping, and a highly automated dock, it moved directly to the top of the Vacuum Wars Top 20 Robot Vacuum list.

The Dreame L60 Ultra PE is a midrange robot vacuum and mop with 30,000Pa Vormax suction, a tangle-resistant HyperStream DuoBrush, an extending side brush, dual spinning mop pads operating at 165 rpm with 13N of pressure, 10.5mm mop lift, LiDAR navigation, AI-camera and 3D ToF obstacle avoidance, Matter support, onboard voice control, and a dock that auto-empties, refills water and detergent, washes and self-cleans with boiling water, and dries the pads with hot air. In testing, it scored 94% in carpet deep cleaning, the second-highest result among nearly 200 robots, plus 100% flattened pet-hair pickup with 0% brush wrap. It avoided 21 of 24 obstacles, crossed 19mm thresholds but failed at 25mm, cleaned faster than average, and achieved above-average coverage per charge despite below-average battery efficiency. General pickup was strong, though fine debris scattered slightly on hard floors, crevice pickup was average, stain removal was below average due to low water output, suction and airflow bench scores were low, and the dustbin is small. Dreame’s app offers granular controls, schedules, no-go and no-mop zones, and floor-direction cleaning. Even with a handful of average scores, the L60 Ultra PE was an impressive robot, all the more so for its price range. These results sent the L60 Ultra PE straight to the top of our Top 20 Robot vacuum list. See additional info

Where the Dreame L60 Ultra PE Fits in the L60 Lineup

Dreame introduced the L60 family as the follow-up to the successful L50 Ultra (see our review), which held the top position in our robot vacuum rankings for several months.

The L60 family includes four main models: the L60 Pro Ultra, L60 Ultra, L60 Ultra PE, and L60 Ultra FE. Because the names are similar, it is important to clarify that this review focuses specifically on the L60 Ultra PE.

The PE and FE are the more value-oriented models in the range, but they are not interchangeable. They use different brush systems, obstacle-avoidance hardware, and feature sets, and those differences produced substantial gaps in several of our evaluations.

The L60 Ultra PE is positioned below the L60 Ultra and L60 Pro Ultra, making it a more accessible alternative to the most advanced models in the family. Despite that lower position, it delivered some of the strongest results.

How Well Does the Dreame L60 Ultra PE Vacuum Carpet?

Carpet deep cleaning was one of the Ultra PE’s biggest strengths. The robot uses Dreame’s Vormax suction system, which the company rates at 30,000 Pascals. It also includes Dreame’s HyperStream DuoBrush, a dual-brush design used on several of the brand’s mid-range and premium robot vacuums.

In our carpet deep-clean test, we embed sand into medium-pile carpet and measure how much the robot removes. The L60 Ultra PE collected 94%, compared with the category average of 78%. That was the second-highest score we had recorded in this evaluation across a dataset of nearly 200 robot vacuums.

The closely related L60 Ultra FE collected 80% in the same test. Although that result was still slightly above average, the PE delivered a much more convincing performance on embedded debris. For carpet-heavy homes, the L60 Ultra PE’s deep-cleaning result is one of the strongest reasons to consider it.

Pet Hair Pickup Was Exceptional

The L60 Ultra PE also earned a rare perfect result in our flattened pet-hair pickup evaluation. For this test, we press two-and-a-half-inch pet hair into carpet to simulate hair that has been walked on or compressed into the fibers. The L60 Ultra PE removed 100% of the hair, compared with the current category average of 82%.

The L60 Ultra FE collected only 51%, making pet-hair pickup one of the clearest performance differences between the two models.

This is especially relevant for pet owners with carpeted floors. Many robot vacuums can collect loose surface hair, but flattened hair can be considerably more difficult to remove. The PE’s perfect result indicates that its brush system is particularly effective in these more demanding conditions.

Does Hair Wrap Around the L60 Ultra PE’s Brushes?

The L60 Ultra PE’s HyperStream DuoBrush is tapered, helping funnel hair into the dustbin during cleaning. This design has performed consistently well in our previous evaluations, and the L60 Ultra PE continued that pattern. In our seven-inch hair-tangle test, 0% of the hair wrapped around the brushes. The category average is 26%.

The L60 Ultra FE uses Dreame’s TriCut brush instead. That design uses integrated teeth intended to slice through wrapped hair, but its performance has been less consistent in our experience. The FE recorded 7% hair wrap in this evaluation.

Seven percent is still a respectable result, but the HyperStream system in the PE remains the more convincing option for homes with long human hair or pets that shed longer strands.

Everyday Debris Pickup on Hard Floors and Carpet

The L60 Ultra PE was also effective at its basic job of collecting common household debris from hard floors and carpets. It handled particles of varying sizes well across both surfaces. We observed only a small amount of fine-debris scattering on hard floors, which did not materially change our overall assessment of its pickup performance.

The side brush extends outward to improve coverage along walls and in corners. It is also designed to resist hair tangles, giving the PE additional protection against the maintenance issues commonly associated with traditional fixed side brushes.

In our crevice evaluation, the L60 Ultra PE scored 2, matching the category average. The L60 Ultra FE scored 2.5. This was consistent with typical robot-vacuum performance in this area.

Dreame L60 Ultra PE Obstacle Avoidance

Obstacle avoidance is another major advantage of the L60 Ultra PE, and it is also one of the most important differences between the PE and FE models.

The L60 Ultra PE uses a multi-sensor system that combines an AI-powered camera with 3D time-of-flight sensors. These technologies help the robot identify and maneuver around smaller objects that basic navigation sensors may not detect reliably. The L60 Ultra FE, by contrast, uses a simpler laser-based system.

In our obstacle-avoidance course, the L60 Ultra PE successfully avoided 21 of 24 objects. The category average is 16 out of 24. The L60 Ultra FE avoided only 2 of 24 objects, which is the lowest obstacle-avoidance score we had ever recorded at that time.

The Dreame L60 Ultra PE completes Vacuum Wars' obstacle avoidance course, avoiding 21 of 24 objects compared with the 16-of-24 category average, while the L60 Ultra FE avoided just 2 of 24.

That result makes the obstacle-avoidance system one of the most consequential reasons to choose the Ultra PE over the FE. The models may appear similar on paper, but their ability to navigate real household clutter is dramatically different.

How Well Does It Cross Thresholds?

The L60 Ultra PE is rated to climb a single threshold of up to 22 mm. Dreame also rates it for an additional 18 mm when crossing a tiered threshold. The L60 Ultra FE has a simpler threshold system and is rated for a single 20 mm threshold.

In our studio evaluation, the Ultra PE crossed a 19 mm threshold without difficulty. It was unable to cross 25 mm.

Based on those results, buyers should treat the 22 mm rating as a firm upper limit. Homes with taller transitions may need one of higher single threshold limits found on the L60 Ultra or L60 Pro Ultra (see our review).

For ordinary room transitions and modest thresholds, however, the PE should be adequate in most homes.

The Dreame L60 Ultra PE clears a 19 mm threshold but fails a 25 mm threshold in Vacuum Wars' mobility testing, matching its 22 mm maximum rating.

Dreame L60 Ultra PE Mopping Performance

The L60 Ultra PE uses two spinning mop pads that rotate at 165 RPM and apply 13 Newtons of downward pressure. One mop pad extends outward to improve coverage along baseboards and furniture edges. The pads can also lift 10.5 mm when the robot detects carpet.

This allows the robot to vacuum carpets and mop hard floors during the same cleaning cycle without requiring the user to run entirely separate vacuuming and mopping jobs.

Stain Removal Was Below Average

Stain removal was one area where the L60 Ultra PE was less impressive.

It scored 85 in our dried-stain evaluation, compared with the category average of 108. The L60 Ultra FE performed better with a score of 137.

The PE used very little water during cleaning. We measured a water penalty of just 0.25 grams on the lower setting and 0.3 grams on the higher setting, compared with the category average of 1.07 grams.

Low water output can be beneficial because excess water may leave streaks or moisture behind on the floor. In this case, however, the PE appeared to use too little water to remove dried stains as effectively as some competing models.

Even after we increased the water setting and repeated the evaluation, its output remained low.

The Dreame L60 Ultra PE undergoes Vacuum Wars' water usage test, using just 0.25 g to 0.30 g of water compared with the 1.07 g category average.

Combined Mopping Score Near the Average

Although stain removal was below average, the L60 Ultra PE performed better when stain removal and water management were considered together.

Its combined mopping score was 30.4, very close to the category average of 30.8. Our video review inaccurately reported our average combined mopping score as 20.3, and the correction puts the L60 Ultra PE at slightly below average. This was human error, and does not change the robot’s position in our rankings.

The L60 Ultra FE produced a higher combined score of 38.8, largely because of its stronger stain-removal.

The PE is better suited to maintenance mopping and homes where controlled water use matters more than maximum stain removal. Buyers dealing with frequent dried spills may prefer a model with a more aggressive mopping system.

Navigation and Mapping Efficiency

The entire Dreame L60 family uses top-mounted spinning LiDAR for mapping and navigation.

The L60 Ultra PE mapped efficiently and followed a logical cleaning route in our evaluation. It covered 0.74 square meters per minute, slightly above the category average of 0.71.

The L60 Ultra FE was somewhat faster at 0.8 square meters per minute.

Efficient routing matters because it reduces unnecessary turns, repeated passes, and wasted movement. A robot with strong navigation can often clean more space even when its raw battery efficiency is only average. That was the case with the L60 Ultra PE.

The Dreame L60 Ultra PE and L60 Ultra FE use top-mounted LiDAR navigation, with the PE mapping at 0.74 m²/min versus the 0.71 m²/min category average and the FE at 0.80 m²/min.

Battery Efficiency and Coverage per Charge

The L60 Ultra PE recorded 1.49 minutes of cleaning per 1% of battery, slightly below the category average of 1.56 minutes. The L60 Ultra FE recorded 1.38 minutes per 1%, making the PE the more efficient of the two models despite remaining below average overall.

The Dreame L60 Ultra PE combined efficient LiDAR navigation with a battery efficiency of 1.49 minutes per 1% charge, outperforming the L60 Ultra FE’s 1.38 minutes per 1% despite remaining slightly below the 1.56-minute category average. © Vacuum Wars

Because the PE moved through the cleaning area efficiently, its estimated total coverage was still slightly above average. We estimated that it could cover approximately 1,202 square feet per charge, compared with the category average of 1,170 square feet. The FE was estimated at 1,110 square feet.

The Ultra PE also supports recharge and resume. If the battery becomes low during a large cleaning job, it can return to the dock, recharge, and continue where it left off. Fast charging in the dock further reduces the practical impact of its slightly below-average battery-efficiency result.

Automated Dock Features

The L60 Ultra PE’s dock is another major strength. It uses boiling water to wash the mop pads, helping remove dirt and reduce the buildup that can lead to odors. The dock also uses hot air to dry the pads after cleaning.

The base station can clean itself with boiling water as well, reducing the amount of manual dock maintenance required.

The robot automatically empties its onboard debris into a disposable bag. Dreame says the bag can hold up to 100 days of debris, although actual replacement frequency will depend on the size of the home, debris levels, and cleaning schedule.

The dock also refills the robot’s clean-water supply and dispenses detergent automatically. Together, these functions make the L60 Ultra PE substantially more automated than a basic robot vacuum with a charging-only base.

Dreame App and Smart-Home Features

Dreame’s app remains one of the stronger robot-vacuum apps we have used.

The interface is relatively intuitive despite offering a large number of controls. Users can create schedules, edit rooms, adjust cleaning settings, and establish no-go or no-mop zones. The robot can also be instructed to clean in the direction of the flooring. This can help reduce the visual appearance of streaks on certain hard-floor surfaces.

The L60 Ultra PE includes an onboard voice assistant for direct verbal commands and supports the Matter smart-home protocol. This gives users more options for integrating the robot into an existing smart-home system without relying entirely on the Dreame app.

Low Suction and Airflow Scores Did Not Hurt Cleaning Performance

One unusual result appeared in our suction and airflow bench evaluations.

The L60 Ultra PE recorded a suction score of 0.57, compared with the category average of 0.99. The L60 Ultra FE scored 0.59. Airflow was also slightly below average. Both the PE and FE measured 15, compared with the category average of 17.

These results would normally raise concerns about vacuuming ability. In this case, however, the lower measurements did not correspond with weak cleaning results.

Vacuum Wars measures the Dreame L60 Ultra PE's suction and airflow, recording a suction score of 0.57 and airflow of 15 versus category averages of 0.99 and 17.
The Dreame L60 Ultra PE measured a suction score of 0.57 and airflow of 15 in our testing, below the category averages of 0.99 and 17 despite its strong real-world cleaning performance. © Vacuum Wars

The Ultra PE still delivered one of the highest carpet deep-clean scores in our dataset, perfect flattened pet-hair pickup, and strong everyday debris collection.

This demonstrates why individual suction and airflow measurements should not be interpreted in isolation. Brush design, floorhead interaction, navigation, and debris handling can have a substantial effect on overall pickup performance.

Final Verdict

The Dreame L60 Ultra PE was one of the most surprising successes in our recent robot-vacuum evaluations.

Its 94% carpet deep-clean score was the second highest in our dataset at the time of review. It also achieved perfect flattened pet-hair pickup, allowed no hair to wrap around its brushes, and avoided 21 of 24 objects in our obstacle course.

The mopping system is not the best for stubborn dried stains, but it manages water output. Efficient LiDAR navigation, above-average estimated coverage, and a highly automated dock further strengthen the package.

The Ultra PE is particularly well suited to carpeted homes, pet owners, households with long hair, and anyone who regularly has small objects or cables on the floor. Buyers prioritizing stronger stain removal may prefer the Ultra FE or another mopping-focused alternative, but they would give up a substantial amount of vacuuming and obstacle-avoidance performance.

Based on its combination of cleaning ability, features, and market position, the Dreame L60 Ultra PE moved directly to the top of the Vacuum Wars Top 20 Robot Vacuum list at the time of this review.
