At a special Dyson Unveiled event in Berlin timed with IFA 2025, James Dyson revealed 11 new and upgraded products. The lineup spans cordless vacuums, robotic cleaners, wet and dry floor systems, and compact purifiers, alongside updates in personal care. Across all categories, Dyson emphasized smaller but more powerful Hyperdymium™ motors, AI-driven cleaning intelligence, hygienic filter-free systems, and expanded app connectivity.
Dyson V16 Piston Animal – Flagship Cordless Performance
The new Dyson V16 Piston Animal is built for households needing maximum performance. Its 900W Hyperdymium™ motor produces 315 air watts of suction, supported by five additional cyclones that cut in during Boost mode.
Other highlights include:
- All Floor Cones Sense cleaner head that adapts to floor types.
- Dual anti-tangle brush bars that eject long hair directly into the bin.
- A CleanCompaktor™ system that compresses dust for up to 30 days of storage.
- A Submarine™ 2.0 wet roller head for wet and dry cleaning.
Like the V8 Cyclone, it will also support a self-emptying dock in 2026.
PencilVac™ – The World’s Slimmest Vacuum
The standout reveal was the Dyson PencilVac™, a cordless vacuum with a body just 38mm in diameter. Despite its slim size, it features Dyson’s new Hyperdymium™ 140k motor, a linear dust separation system, and dual conical brush bars that resist hair tangling. The PencilVac™ glides in all directions, including sideways, and fits easily under low furniture. Dyson says its compact bin can hold up to five times more dust than its 0.08L capacity suggests, thanks to built-in compression.
The Dyson PencilVac Fluffycones is an ultra-slim (38mm), sub-4 lb cordless vacuum designed for maximum agility, excelling on hard floors with its multidirectional fluffy cones head that allows side-to-side and under-furniture cleaning, while delivering excellent pickup in testing—fine debris was nearly perfect, cereal-sized debris showed minimal scatter, and large debris performed well. Its dual green lasers effectively reveal hidden dust, filtration captured 99.99% of 0.3-micron particles (validated by a passed fog test), and features like a removable battery, compacting bin, and sleek magnetic dock add convenience. However, it struggles on carpets (often stalling), has below-average runtime (30 minutes claimed, ~9 minutes on max vs. ~13.5 avg), and weaker airflow/suction metrics. Hair testing showed long strands being ejected rather than collected, handheld use is awkward, crevice pickup underperformed, and the tiny bin has a messy, overcomplicated emptying process. Ultimately, despite strong hard-floor performance, its limitations, niche use case, and $500+ price reduce overall value. See additional info

Dyson V8 Cyclone – A Next-Gen Classic
Dyson updated its long-running V8 cordless vacuum with a new Cyclone model. It delivers 30% more suction than the original, up to 60 minutes of runtime, and supports a self-emptying dock coming in 2026. The V8 Cyclone also introduces a triggerless power button and three cleaning modes. Importantly, existing V8 owners can use their current attachments, while new buyers will have access to a wide tool set.

The Dyson Clean+Wash Hygiene is a cordless hard floor vacuum mop that represents a major improvement over Dyson’s earlier Wash G1, featuring a unique system that mechanically separates solid debris from dirty water for a more sanitary cleaning process. Its lightweight 8.5-pound design, excellent maneuverability, 180-degree lay-flat reach, dual-edge cleaning, anti-hair wrap roller, and impressive 70-minute runtime make it comfortable and convenient to use. Additional highlights include Wi-Fi connectivity, an LCD display, self-cleaning with hot-air roller drying to reduce odors and bacteria, and 16.9 ounces of included cleaning solution. In Vacuum Wars studio testing, it scored 107 points in stain removal versus a 139-point average, left 1.63 grams of residual water compared with the roughly 1-gram average, and achieved an overall mopping score of about 89 points versus the 115-point average. Usable suction measured just 0.02 kPa, though the design relies primarily on its mechanical debris system rather than suction. Downsides include the small 0.53-liter clean water tank that requires frequent refills, below-average mopping performance, the lack of self-propel, dirt detection, automatic power adjustment, and steam, leaving stronger overall competitors available at a similar price. Dyson also introduced the Clean+Wash Hygiene, a lightweight wet and dry cleaner designed to eliminate common hygiene issues with traditional floor washers. Instead of circulating dirty water through pipes and filters, the roller is continuously refreshed with clean water while waste is contained separately. Dyson claims this system prevents odors, clogging, and suction loss. Weighing just 3.8kg, it’s compact and easy to maneuver under furniture.

The Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai is a premium robot vacuum-mop combo that introduces several firsts for Dyson, including a bagless auto-empty dock, AI obstacle avoidance, and a roller mop system, and overall it performs well with some tradeoffs. Its standout feature is the cyclonic bagless dock, which effectively separated heavy pet hair after nearly two weeks without cleaning and stayed completely dry, while the AI system avoided 20 of 24 objects versus a 15 average, making it top-tier for a first attempt. The roller mop scored 101 on coffee stain removal (above the 94 average) with a combined mopping score of 20.1, though it left 1.3g of water (slightly above average). Battery efficiency improved significantly to 1.38 minutes per percent, covering about 846 sq ft per charge, still below the 1,170 average. Vacuuming was solid but slightly weaker than its predecessor, with 76% carpet deep clean pickup (vs. 78 average) and 81% pet hair pickup (vs. 82 average), though crevice performance was excellent at 3.5 vs. 2.0. Downsides include slow navigation (0.57 vs. 0.71 average), poor anti-tangle (31% hair wrap), limited 20mm obstacle climbing, a basic app, and a large 4.3-inch height that can hinder maneuverability. A major step in robotics came with the Dyson Spot+Scrub™ Ai, a robot vacuum engineered for both vacuuming and mopping. It features:
- AI-powered stain detection with before-and-after image verification.
- Adaptive navigation that recognizes nearly 200 household objects.
- A 12-point hydration system to keep its roller fresh.
- A Cyclonic Dock that empties, washes, refills, and recharges automatically.
Dyson has worked on robotic cleaning since the 1990s, and this model marks its most advanced effort yet.
Dyson HushJet™ Purifier Compact
Expanding into air purification, Dyson launched the HushJet™ Purifier Compact (Amazon Link), designed to deliver whole-room purification with reduced noise. Its new HushJet™ nozzle smooths airflow to minimize turbulence, allowing it to run as low as 24 dB in Sleep mode. Dyson says it offers 80% of the capacity of its large-format Big+Quiet purifier in just a third of the size.

Dyson also refreshed its climate range with the Dyson Cool™ CF1 bladeless fan and Dyson Hot+Cool™ HF1 fan heater, both adding smart app control and quieter operation.
In hair care, Dyson unveiled the Supersonic r™ hair dryer, the Airwrap Co-anda2x™ multi-styler, and a new Omega™ nourishing range. While outside the scope of floor care, these additions reflect Dyson’s continued push in compact motor engineering and crossover innovation.
Final Thoughts
Dyson’s Berlin showcase highlights its intent to redefine multiple home technology categories at once. For floor care, the PencilVac™, V16 Piston Animal, Clean+Wash Hygiene, and Spot+Scrub™ Ai robot demonstrate Dyson’s continued focus on suction power, hair management, hygienic design, and increasingly intelligent automation.
As these products roll out into 2025 and 2026, it will be worth watching how consumers respond to Dyson’s bold new formats — particularly its first AI-driven robot vacuum and its ultra-slim PencilVac™.
