Shark AquaReach Brings an Extendable Wand to the Vacuum Mop Category

Shark is taking the wet-dry vacuum category off the floor with the new AquaReach WD551. Its headline feature is an extendable cleaning wand—a new addition for this type of product—that brings suction and on-demand cleaning-solution spray to baseboards, cabinet doors, tile walls, crown molding, and other areas conventional vacuum mops cannot reach.

The AquaReach still vacuums and mops sealed hard floors in the same pass, but the wand is what makes this launch especially notable. Shark describes it as the only vacuum-and-mop combination designed for floor-to-ceiling cleaning. The Shark AquaReach WD551 is available now for $399.99.

Shark AquaReach WD551 Hard Floor Cleaner

The Shark AquaReach WD551 is a cordless wet-dry vacuum and mop designed for sealed hard floors and above-floor surfaces. Its extendable wand provides suction and an on-demand spray of cleaning solution for baseboards, cabinet doors, tile walls, crevices, and other hard-to-reach areas. It also includes a Stain Scrubber Tool, Reveal LED Light, self-cleaning brushroll, and dock-based rinse cycle.

Vacuuming and Mopping Sealed Hard Floors

For regular floor cleaning, the AquaReach combines suction and mopping to collect dry debris, wet spills, and stuck-on grime in the same pass. It is designed for sealed tile, laminate, hardwood, vinyl, stone, and other hard surfaces.

A dual-tank system keeps clean solution separate from the dirty liquid and debris collected during cleaning. According to Shark’s comparison chart, the WD551 has a runtime of up to 40 minutes and comes with a standard charging dock.

The floor nozzle also features Shark’s Reveal LED Light Beam. The light is designed to illuminate dust, debris, pet hair, and residue that may otherwise be difficult to see on hard floors.

An Extendable Wand for Above-Floor Messes

The main feature separating the AquaReach from conventional wet-dry floor cleaners is its extendable wand. Shark describes the WD551 as the only vacuum-and-mop combination with a wand designed to clean from floor to ceiling.

The wand supplies both suction and an on-demand spray of cleaning solution. This allows it to address debris and stains along baseboards, in corners and crevices, on cabinet doors, and across sealed tile walls. It also extends the cleaner’s reach to higher areas such as crown molding.

This approach gives the AquaReach two distinct cleaning configurations. The main floor nozzle handles open hard-floor areas, while the wand targets tighter spaces, edges, corners, and above-floor surfaces.

Stain Scrubber Tool for Tight Areas

The WD551 includes a Stain Scrubber Tool that attaches to the wand. Its slim profile is designed for tighter spaces and smaller surfaces, including windowsills, faucets, corners, and baseboards.

Shark says the attachment provides the scrubbing action needed for stubborn, stuck-on messes while the wand supplies cleaning solution and suction.

Self-Cleaning During Use and on the Dock

The AquaReach uses a self-cleaning brushroll designed to clear debris and liquid continuously as it rotates. According to Shark, this helps prevent collected messes from being spread back across the floor during cleaning.

Maintenance continues when the machine returns to its charging dock. An automatic rinse cycle flushes remaining debris from the brushroll, nozzle, and internal tubes while the AquaReach charges.

An AquaReach Pro Is Also Listed

Shark also lists an AquaReach Pro Vacuum Mop on its website, although it is not currently available to order. The Pro version adds what Shark calls a Detailer Mop tool for above-floor mopping with the wand. Product images show the attachment cleaning baseboards and vertical cabinet surfaces, suggesting that it is intended to extend wet mopping beyond floors rather than relying only on the WD551’s Stain Scrubber Tool.
