Shark has introduced a new premium upright vacuum, the Shark Performance Powered Lift-Away (UV2500). The UV2500 brings together many of Shark’s most popular technologies in one package, including a Powered Lift-Away mode for hard-to-reach areas, the brand’s DuoClean brushroll system for multi-surface pickup, and HEPA filtration designed to help trap dust and allergens inside the vacuum. With this release, Shark continues to focus on upright vacuums that offer both deep-cleaning capability and the flexibility needed for above-floor and under-furniture cleaning.

DuoClean PowerFins HairPro Nozzle for Pet Hair and Multi-Surface Cleaning
A key feature of the UV2500 is Shark’s DuoClean PowerFins HairPro nozzle, which uses a dual-brushroll design intended to handle a mix of floor and debris types, from larger particles to fine dust and hair. Shark positions this system as especially useful for homes with pets, with a brush design meant to reduce hair wrap while maintaining strong pickup across floor surfaces.

Powered Lift-Away Design for Under-Furniture Reach
The vacuum also includes Powered Lift-Away, allowing users to detach the pod while keeping the floor nozzle powered. This configuration is designed to make it easier to clean under furniture, along baseboards, and in other hard-to-reach areas while still maintaining brushroll agitation.

What is “Powered Lift-Away”?
Powered Lift-Away is a signature Shark feature that allows the user to detach the vacuum’s central canister from the wand while maintaining a constant electrical connection to the floor nozzle. Unlike standard lift-away models where the brush roll stops spinning once the pod is removed, this “powered” version keeps the motor-driven brushes active even in portable mode.
This allows the user to vacuum deep under low-clearance furniture or use it on stairs with the same agitation and suction that the vacuum provides in upright mode, effectively offering the reach of a stick vacuum.
Additional Features and Included Tools
Additional features include Odor Neutralizer Technology, designed to help reduce odors inside the vacuum, along with Anti-Allergen Complete Seal with HEPA filtration, intended to trap dust and allergens inside the system. The UV2500 also includes LED headlights on the floor nozzle for improved visibility, as well as specialized tools such as a pet crevice tool, wide upholstery tool, and a self-cleaning pet power brush.

No Detect Sensor Features on the UV2500
It’s worth noting that this model does not include Shark’s newer “Detect” sensor-based automation features found in the brand’s recent releases, such as the upright Shark PowerDetect (see our full review). Instead, the UV2500 appears to focus on core upright performance paired with Lift-Away flexibility.
Final Thoughts
As always, we’ll be watching closely to see how it performs in real-world evaluations and how it compares to other premium uprights in Shark’s lineup.
