The Most Loved (or Hated) Robot Vacuums on Amazon – How We Now Score the 1-Star Reviews

In this special edition, we are reviewing the most hated and top rated robot vacuum and mop combos, based on customer reviews on Amazon! This breakdown provides the real scoop from real product users and our own hands-on evaluations. It’s very useful, whether you’re seeking the best value or trying to avoid a disaster.

At Vacuum Wars, we’ve evaluated well over 100 robot vacuums and assigned each one a rating to see if they can rank on our Top 20 Robot Vacuums list. Rankings are primarily based on the various evaluations we do, but we’ve also been tracking Amazon ratings and including those as a factor in each score.

And we’ve recently updated our algorithm to include another metric based on Amazon data, specifically the percentage of one-star reviews. That means, “out of all the reviews a product has, how many are only one star?”

If it’s a lot, that usually means people went out of their way to warn others not to buy that product, which we think is an important and useful signal. And just like the Amazon star rating, we only consider the one-star percentage if the product has more than 50 reviews. Otherwise, we give it a default average score.

So here are the most hated and top rated robot vacuum and mop combos we’ve reviewed, according to this new data.

Most HATED Robot Vacuums

Some robot vacuums have earned the ire of users for being more trouble than they’re worth. Let’s start with number three and work our way up.

Most Hated Robot Vacuums

3. iRobot Roomba Combo 10 Max

The third most hated robot vacuum is the iRobot Roomba Combo 10 Max. 37% of its reviews were one star, with an overall Amazon rating of 2.8 stars. The current Vacuum Wars ranking of the Combo 10 Max is 61st place, with a Vacuum Wars score of 1.90, which is below the average of 2.8.

Combo 10 Max was iRobot’s final flagship product before the company’s recent overhaul of its entire lineup. Amazon customers described the Combo 10 Max as unreliable and poorly engineered. Navigation accuracy was a frequently cited issue, where the robot gets lost during runs. Users also report regularly encountering false errors, and we noted the same in our review. In fact, the Roomba Combo 10 Max holds the dubious distinction of having the worst score of all time on our navigation efficiency evaluation for a smart robot vacuum.

People also noted the messy mopping and overall poor design of its mop washing station. This is something we also noted in our review. Multiple reviewers mentioned that the device eventually stopped working altogether.

2. Dyson 360 Vis Nav

Coming in as the second most hated robot vacuum is the Dyson 360 Vis Nav, which received 40% one-star reviews, resulting in a 2.8 overall Amazon star rating. It currently ranks 82nd in the Vacuum War’s ranking system, with a 0.62 star rating

A recurring complaint with Amazon customers was its poor navigation system, bad mapping, and inability to complete runs without issues. The robot often missed entire rooms and struggled to maneuver around common obstacles, such as chair legs.

Many users also cited persistent problems with dropping Wi-Fi connectivity. Battery life was another concern, which is something we noted in our review, where the Dyson 360 Vis Nav had the second-worst battery score of all time.

Battery efficiency comparison showing Dyson 360 Vis Nav at 0.48 minutes per percent versus the average of 1.52 minutes per percent.

1. iRobot Roomba Combo j9+

The number one most hated robot vacuum was the Roomba Combo J9+. 41% of its reviews were one-star, and it has an overall Amazon rating of 2.8.

The J9+ performed slightly better than the Dyson Vis Nav in our rankings, primarily because it featured a mop and obstacle avoidance capabilities, whereas the Dyson didn’t. It ultimately achieved a Vacuum Wars ranking of 74, with a score of 1.90.

One common complaint on Amazon was that it frequently failed to return to its charging dock, often getting stuck or lost. Users also reported encountering confusing or persistent error codes. Battery life was another point of contention. The accompanying app received poor marks for being difficult to use or lacking functionality.

Like the Combo 10 Max, we also found its navigation to be quite poor in our review. It got the second-worst score of all time on the Vacuum Wars navigation efficiency evaluation.

Most LOVED Robot Vacuums

And now, here are the top rated robot vacuums, according to Amazon reviewers.

3. Roborock Qrevo Slim

Only 5% of the Roborock Qrevo Slim’s approximately 300 reviews are one star. It’s also currently ranking number eleven on the Vacuum Wars Top 20, with an Overall score of 4.04.

Users generally praise the Qrevo Slim’s strong floor cleaning ability, particularly on hardwood floors. They also praise its accurate mapping and navigation, intuitive app, and hands-off features that refill, wash, and dry the mop pads, as well as empty the dust bin.

In our Qrevo Slim review, we noted that it has a better-than-average obstacle avoidance system, known as Starlight.

Its mopping features and battery life were also great. We believe the Qrevo Slim is now more valuable than when we first reviewed it. Roborock has since lowered the price, as newer models have been released.

2. Roborock Saros 10R

The second most loved robot vacuum is also a Roborock—the Saros 10R. Only 6% of its reviews are one star, and it has an exceptionally high 4.5-star Amazon rating. Customers have noted various positives, including the accurate mapping and navigation, as well as a dock that self-washes and allows the mop to lift or detach for seamless transitions between floor types. The Saros 10R was the first robot vacuum we evaluated that ever got a perfect score with obstacle avoidance

Potential drawbacks of the 10R include a small 270ml dust bin, which can become clogged if you don’t run it frequently enough or have a lot of pet hair in your home. And of course, it’s priced at a premium. Even with those factors, the Saros 10R is currently ranking third on the Vacuum Wars Top 20, with an Overall score of 4.33

The Roborock Saros 10R features a 3.14-inch profile and StarSight Autonomous System 2.0, eliminating the need for a raised LDS unit and allowing it to clean under low-lying furniture. It excelled in our obstacle avoidance tests, demonstrating reliable 3D sensing and a VertiBeam Lateral Obstacle Avoidance system that navigates cables and various types of furniture. The HyperForce suction, combined with a zero-tangle brush configuration, addresses different floor surfaces, while the AdaptiLift Chassis helps it cross thresholds up to 4cm and automatically lift its mops on carpets. A 10-in-one Multifunctional Dock handles tasks such as dust collection, mop washing, and drying, and the built-in “Hello Rocky” voice assistant supports offline voice commands for added convenience. 1. Mova P10 Ultra

The number one most loved robot vacuum is the Mova P10 Ultra, with only 6% of its 263 reviews being one-star, and it has a super high overall Amazon star rating of 4.6. It’s also currently ranked number eight on the Vacuum Wars Top 20, with an Overall score of 4.17

This robot vacuum has most of the features that other flagships offer, but it’s selling for significantly less. In fact, it’s the cheapest robot vacuum in the Vacuum Wars Top 20, and currently our official value pick.

The P10 Ultra’s price is probably one of the reasons customers on Amazon are so eager to give it good reviews.

Conclusion

There you have it! That’s our list—straight from the people who live with them every day.

Among the most hated vacuums, iRobot’s Roomba Combo j9+ and Combo 10 Max stood out for unreliable navigation and critical design flaws, while Dyson’s 360 Vis Nav disappointed with poor mapping and short battery life.

On the other hand, the most loved vacuums—MOVA P10 Ultra, Roborock Saros 10R, and Roborock Qrevo Slim (Amazon Links)—earned praise for smart navigation, hands-off maintenance features, and excellent value for money. The contrast is clear: thoughtful engineering and reliability win trust, while overpromised features that underdeliver tend to spark frustration.
