Best (June 2026) Upright Vacuums

We’ve Independently Tested 50+ Upright Vacuums

One of the biggest trends we’ve observed over the past year is the continued migration of premium features into lower price categories. Features that were once reserved for flagship models—such as sealed HEPA filtration, detachable Lift-Away or Lift-Up systems, anti-tangle brushrolls, LED headlights, and advanced multi-surface floorheads—are becoming increasingly common across the market.

At the same time, competition among premium uprights remains intense. Shark continues to dominate the upper end of the category with multiple highly ranked models, while brands like Bissell have significantly improved their upright vacuum offerings through better floorhead designs, stronger filtration systems, and more refined user experiences.

As always, our rankings are based on a combination of independent Vacuum Wars testing, feature analysis, and consumer ratings. The result is a ranking system designed to identify not just the strongest cleaning machines, but the products that offer the best overall ownership experience within their respective categories.

While every vacuum undergoes our standardized suite of sealed suction, airflow, and hair-tangle stress tests, June 2026 presents a unique shift: the gap between budget hardware and flagship performance has never been thinner. Our rankings are dynamic and shift as the market evolves -for the most current data, see our Top 10 Best Upright Vacuums list.

June 2026: What Changed and Why It Matters

The biggest change this month is the arrival of a new Best Overall Upright Vacuum. The Shark Performance Powered Lift-Away UV2500 takes over the top spot from the Shark Stratos. This wasn’t because the Stratos suddenly became a worse vacuum—in fact, it remains one of the strongest pure cleaning performers we’ve ever tested and continues to post outstanding Hard Floor and Carpet scores. Instead, the newer Performance UV2500 managed to combine strong cleaning performance with a more complete overall package, including premium Powered Lift-Away functionality, an exceptional attachment package, odor-neutralization technology, and stronger consumer ratings. The result was a slightly higher overall Vacuum Wars Score and a new Overall winner.

The Value category also saw a significant change. The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser DualBrush 42943 replaces the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Allergen Lift-Off as our top Value pick. Bissell’s newer DualBrush floorhead proved to be a meaningful upgrade, delivering excellent results on both hard floors and carpets while adding features like Floor Detect automation. More importantly, it demonstrates how much Bissell’s upright vacuum lineup has improved in recent years. The company has become increasingly competitive in categories traditionally dominated by Shark, particularly among shoppers looking for premium performance without flagship pricing.

Our Budget category remains unchanged this month, with the Kenmore Bagless Lift-Up DU5092 retaining its position. Despite increasing competition from lower-cost alternatives, the Kenmore continues to offer one of the most complete feature sets available at a budget-friendly price. Its combination of Lift-Up versatility, sealed HEPA filtration, strong carpet-cleaning performance, and useful attachments continues to separate it from many similarly priced competitors.

Taken together, this month’s rankings highlight an encouraging trend for consumers: shoppers no longer need to spend premium prices to access premium features. Whether you’re shopping at the flagship, value, or budget level, today’s upright vacuum market offers more capable and feature-rich options than ever before.

Best Overall: Shark Performance Powered Lift-Away

Vacuum Wars Score: 4.89 ⭐

The Shark Performance Powered Lift-Away UV2500 is a corded upright vacuum designed for whole-home cleaning with strong suction and a versatile Powered Lift-Away system that allows the pod to detach while keeping the motorized floor nozzle running for cleaning under furniture, stairs, and above-floor surfaces. It uses DuoClean PowerFins HairPro technology, a dual-brushroll system engineered to handle carpets and hard floors while capturing fine dust, large debris, and pet hair with reduced hair wrap. The vacuum features Anti-Allergen Complete Seal with HEPA filtration, designed to trap 99.9% of dust and allergens (0.3 microns) inside the system, along with Odor Neutralizer Technology to help reduce odors inside the vacuum. Additional features include LED headlights, swivel steering, and a bagless design with a 1.04L dust cup, powered by a 1300-watt motor (11 amps / 120 V). The UV2500 also includes several accessories for above-floor cleaning such as a HairPro self-cleaning pet power brush, pet crevice tool, wide upholstery tool, dusting brush, and precision duster, making it suitable for pet hair pickup and multi-surface cleaning throughout the home.

Why the Shark Performance Made the List

The Shark Performance Powered Lift-Away UV2500 earns our Best Overall Upright Vacuum award for June 2026 because it delivers the strongest overall balance of cleaning performance, features, versatility, attachments, and owner satisfaction in the category. As Shark’s newest premium upright, it combines many of the strengths of both the Shark Stratos and Shark PowerDetect while achieving the highest overall Vacuum Wars Score among the three.

The Shark Performance replaces last month’s Overall winner, the Shark Stratos (see our review). While the Stratos remains one of the strongest pure cleaning performers we’ve tested and continues to post superior Hard Floor and Carpet scores, the Performance’s stronger feature score, category-leading attachment performance, newer platform, and significantly higher owner ratings helped push its overall score slightly ahead this month.

Likewise, the Shark PowerDetect (see our review) remains Shark’s most feature-rich upright, offering advanced automation through technologies like Edge Detect, Floor Detect, Dirt Detect, and Direction Detect. However, the Performance delivers stronger overall balance, combining premium Powered Lift-Away functionality, DuoClean PowerFins HairPro technology, sealed HEPA filtration, Odor Neutralizer Technology, anti-tangle hair management, LED headlights, and a comprehensive attachment package without any significant weaknesses.

Its consumer ratings also helped secure its position. The Shark Performance currently holds a 4.6-star average rating compared to 4.2 stars for both the Stratos and PowerDetect, suggesting that its combination of performance and usability is translating well to real-world ownership experiences.

The result is a vacuum that may not dominate every individual category, but consistently performs at a high level across all of them. That well-rounded ownership proposition ultimately allowed the Shark Performance Powered Lift-Away UV2500 to claim the top spot this month.

Performance (Performance: 4.08 vs Avg: 3.26)

The Shark Performance performed well above the upright category average in our testing, earning a Performance Score of 4.08 compared to the category average of 3.26. Its sealed suction measured 83 inches compared to the category average of 80.27 inches, while its hose airflow reached 101 CFM versus the category average of 77 CFM. Usable suction was also notably above average at 0.76 kPa compared to the category average of 0.45 kPa. These results helped the Performance deliver strong cleaning performance across a variety of floor types and debris sizes.

Sealed Suction83 in.80.27 in.
Hose Airflow101 CFM77 CFM
Usable Suction0.76 kPa0.45 kPa

That said, this is one area where the Shark Stratos still maintains an advantage. The Stratos earned a Performance Score of 4.52, making it one of the strongest cleaning machines in our upright database. Shoppers who prioritize maximum raw cleaning performance above all else may still prefer the Stratos. However, the Performance remained highly competitive while offering a stronger overall ownership proposition, which ultimately helped it secure the top position.

Features (Performance: 4.12 vs Avg: 2.38)

The Shark Performance’s feature package scored well above average and is one of the primary reasons it rose to the top of our rankings. It includes Powered Lift-Away functionality, allowing the pod to detach while keeping the motorized floor nozzle active for cleaning under furniture and in difficult-to-reach areas.

Shark’s DuoClean PowerFins HairPro system combines a soft roller and brushroll design that works effectively across both hard floors and carpets while reducing hair wrap. The vacuum also features sealed HEPA filtration, Odor Neutralizer Technology, swivel steering, LED headlights, and a large 1.04-liter dustbin.

The primary competitor here is the Shark PowerDetect, which earned the highest Features Score of the group at 4.79. PowerDetect’s automated sensor suite includes Edge Detect, Floor Detect, Dirt Detect, and Direction Detect technology, giving it a clear advantage in intelligent automation. If cutting-edge automation is your top priority, the PowerDetect remains Shark’s most advanced upright.

However, the Shark Performance’s feature set remains exceptionally strong and combines premium functionality with a simpler overall ownership experience, which helped contribute to its higher overall score.

Hard Floor (Performance: 4.30 vs Avg: 3.48)

Hard floor performance was another area where the Performance significantly exceeded the category average. Its Hard Floor Score of 4.30 placed it well above the category average of 3.48 and among the stronger performers in the upright category.

The DuoClean PowerFins HairPro system played a major role here. By combining multiple brushroll elements within the floorhead, the Performance effectively handled both fine debris and larger particles while maintaining strong pickup performance across a variety of hard floor surfaces.

The Shark Stratos remains the benchmark in this comparison, however. With a Hard Floor Score of 4.80, the Stratos continues to be one of the strongest hard floor performers we’ve tested. The Performance does not quite reach that level, but its results remain well above average and more than sufficient for most households.

Carpet (Performance: 3.64 vs Avg: 3.71)

Carpet performance represents one of the few categories where the Performance does not clearly lead. Its Carpet Score of 3.64 was essentially in line with the category average of 3.71 and demonstrated solid overall carpet cleaning ability. The Performance handled everyday debris effectively and benefited from strong airflow and suction characteristics that helped it remain competitive across a variety of carpet types.

However, the Shark Stratos remains the superior choice for shoppers who place maximum emphasis on carpet cleaning performance. The Stratos earned an outstanding Carpet Score of 4.80, one of the highest scores in our database. Its combination of strong suction, airflow, and floorhead design allows it to achieve deeper cleaning results than the Performance.

This distinction is important because it highlights why the Performance won the Overall category. It did not win by dominating every individual test. Instead, it won by delivering the strongest overall balance across all major categories while maintaining excellent owner satisfaction and versatility.

Attachments (Performance: 5.00 vs Avg: 4.43)

Its included accessory package is one of the most complete in the upright category, featuring a HairPro Self-Cleaning Pet Power Brush, Pet Crevice Tool, Wide Upholstery Tool, Dusting Brush, and Precision Duster. Combined with the Powered Lift-Away design, these tools make the Performance particularly effective for stairs, furniture, upholstery, and other above-floor cleaning tasks.

The Performance tied the Shark Stratos for the highest attachment score among these premium Shark uprights while comfortably outperforming the PowerDetect in this category. For households that frequently rely on attachments for pet hair, furniture cleaning, or above-floor tasks, the Performance’s accessory package is one of its strongest advantages.

The Bottom Line

The Shark Performance Powered Lift-Away UV2500 earns our Best Overall Upright Vacuum award because it delivers the strongest balance of performance, features, versatility, attachments, and owner satisfaction in the category.

The Shark Stratos remains the stronger pure cleaning machine, particularly on carpets and hard floors. The Shark PowerDetect remains the most technologically advanced model thanks to its suite of intelligent sensor-based features. But the Performance successfully bridges the gap between those two products, combining premium Shark performance with a well-rounded feature set and excellent real-world usability.

For shoppers seeking the best overall upright vacuum in June 2026, the Shark Performance Powered Lift-Away Performance currently offers the most complete package in the category.

Why the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser DualBrush 42943 Made the List

The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser DualBrush 42943 earns our Best Value Upright Vacuum award because it combines flagship-level cleaning performance, premium convenience features, and strong pet-focused engineering at a price that remains below many top-tier competitors.

Bissell has made significant strides in recent years across several product categories, and the DualBrush represents one of the company’s strongest upright vacuum releases to date. It currently holds the highest overall score among the value-category contenders we considered this month, outperforming alternatives like the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Allergen Lift-Off 39883 (see our review) and the Bissell CleanView Compact Turbo (see our review) by offering a more complete balance of cleaning performance, features, and versatility.

One of the biggest reasons for its success is the DualBrush floorhead. Dual brushroll systems have become increasingly important in the upright vacuum category because they excel at handling both fine dust and larger debris across multiple floor types. Shark’s DuoClean system helped popularize this approach and has consistently performed well in Vacuum Wars testing. With the DualBrush design, Bissell has finally delivered a similarly effective implementation that performs exceptionally well on both carpets and hard floors.

The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser DualBrush 42943 uses a dual-brushroll floorhead with a soft front roller and traditional rear brushroll, a design that excels at handling both fine dust and larger debris across multiple floor types. © Vacuum Wars.

The DualBrush also replaces last month’s Value winner, the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Allergen Lift-Off 39883. The Allergen Lift-Off remains an excellent value option and continues to offer strong carpet cleaning, Lift-Off versatility, and an effective pet-focused attachment package. However, the DualBrush builds on that foundation with a more advanced DualBrush floorhead design, stronger hard-floor performance, Floor Detect automation, and a higher overall Vacuum Wars Score. Those improvements were enough to move it into the top Value position this month.

Performance (Pet Hair Eraser DualBrush: 4.08 vs Avg: 3.26)

The DualBrush earned a Performance Score of 4.08, substantially above the upright vacuum average of 3.26. Its cleaning results were impressive across nearly every test. The vacuum achieved perfect pickup scores on both hard floors and carpets while also earning a perfect 100 in our carpet deep-cleaning test, where we measure the removal of embedded debris from carpet fibers. Its crevice pickup performance was also above average, demonstrating strong versatility in real-world cleaning situations.

The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser DualBrush 42943 earned a Performance Score of 4.08, well above the upright vacuum average. © Vacuum Wars.

While some of its airflow measurements were closer to average, its above-average sealed suction and consistently excellent debris pickup results translated into performance that rivals significantly more expensive flagship models.

Features (Pet Hair Eraser DualBrush: 3.54 vs Avg: 2.38)

Its feature set includes Floor Detect automatic surface adjustment, FurGuard anti-tangle brushroll technology, Lift-Off portability, swivel steering, bright FurFinder LED headlights, and a sealed HEPA filtration system. Together, these features create a user experience that feels more premium than its price would suggest.

The Lift-Off design is especially useful for stairs and above-floor cleaning, while the anti-tangle brushroll performed well in our hair-wrap testing with both short and long strands.

Hard Floor (Pet Hair Eraser DualBrush: 4.30 vs Avg: 3.48)

The DualBrush earned a Hard Floor Score of 4.30, significantly exceeding the category average. Much of that success comes from its dual-brushroll floorhead, which combines a soft front roller with a traditional rear brushroll. Soft rollers have consistently performed well in Vacuum Wars testing because they can handle both fine dust and larger debris without snowplowing.

Compared with the previous Value winner, the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Allergen Lift-Off 39883, the DualBrush demonstrated a clear advantage on hard floors. The Allergen Lift-Off posted a Hard Floor Score of 3.00, while the DualBrush achieved 4.30, making this one of the biggest factors contributing to the ranking change.

Carpet (Pet Hair Eraser DualBrush: 4.80 vs Avg: 3.71)

The DualBrush earned a Carpet Score of 4.80, well above the category average of 3.71. Its perfect carpet pickup score and perfect deep-cleaning result demonstrate that the dual-brushroll system is equally effective on carpeted surfaces. The rear brushroll provides strong agitation while the vacuum’s suction system effectively removes embedded dirt and pet hair.

The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser DualBrush 42943 earned an outstanding Carpet Score of 4.80, significantly above the upright vacuum average. © Vacuum Wars

For homes with pets or large carpeted areas, this was one of the strongest carpet performances we’ve recorded from a value-oriented upright vacuum.

Attachments (Pet Hair Eraser DualBrush: 5.0 vs Avg: 4.43)

The DualBrush earned an Attachment Score of 5.0, far above the category average of 4.43. Its Lift-Off pod expands cleaning versatility well beyond floors, allowing users to tackle stairs, upholstery, furniture, and other above-floor surfaces. Included pet-focused tools further enhance its usefulness for homes with shedding pets.

While some premium competitors offer slightly more flexible hose-and-wand configurations, the overall attachment package remains among the strongest available at this price point.

The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser DualBrush 42943 earned an Attachment Score of 5.0, well above the upright vacuum average of 4.43. © Vacuum Wars.

The Bottom Line

The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser DualBrush 42943 earns our Best Value Upright Vacuum award because it delivers flagship-caliber cleaning performance at a price that remains accessible to a much wider range of shoppers.

While the previous Value winner, the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Allergen Lift-Off 39883, remains a strong recommendation and continues to offer excellent carpet cleaning and attachment performance, the DualBrush represents a meaningful evolution of that formula. Its improved hard-floor cleaning, DualBrush floorhead design, Floor Detect technology, and stronger overall performance helped it earn the highest score in the Value category this month.

Vacuum Wars Score: 4.07 ⭐

Kenmore Bagless Lift Up Vacuum Cleaner at the Vacuum Wars Studio

We are impressed by the Kenmore DU5092 bagless upright vacuum’s performance, particularly in debris pickup on various surfaces and its versatility due to multiple attachments. Why the Kenmore Bagless Lift-Up DU5092 Made the List

The Kenmore Bagless Lift-Up DU5092 remains our Best Budget Upright Vacuum pick for June 2026 because it continues to offer one of the strongest combinations of cleaning performance, versatility, and premium features available at its price point.

While many budget upright vacuums force shoppers to choose between cleaning performance and convenience features, the DU5092 delivers both. Its Lift-Up detachable pod, sealed HEPA filtration system, LED headlights, swivel steering, and automatic hair-removal technology help it feel much closer to a midrange vacuum than a typical budget model. Combined with strong carpet-cleaning performance and a versatile attachment package, it continues to offer one of the most complete ownership experiences in the category.

The DU5092 also maintains an advantage over many similarly priced competitors because it avoids the compromises commonly found in budget uprights. Models such as the Bissell CleanView Compact Turbo (see our review) can offer respectable cleaning performance at a lower price, but they lack many of the convenience, filtration, and versatility features that helped the Kenmore secure this position. For shoppers seeking the strongest overall value at the lower end of the upright market, the Kenmore remains our top choice this month.

Performance (Kenmore: 3.61 vs Avg: 3.26)

The Kenmore earned a Performance Score of 3.61, comfortably exceeding the budget-category average of 3.26. It handled a wide variety of debris types effectively and performed especially well with larger debris on both carpets and hard floors.

A major contributor to these results is the vacuum’s unusually large front-gate design. The larger intake opening allows it to collect debris that many budget uprights struggle with, particularly larger particles that can become trapped or pushed forward by more restrictive floorheads.

The tradeoff is that the same design can reduce seal efficiency in certain tests, which contributed to slightly below-average scores in unsealed suction and crevice pickup. However, Kenmore appears to have prioritized real-world debris handling over maximizing seal performance, and our testing suggests that was the correct decision for most households.

Overall, the DU5092 delivers cleaning performance that significantly exceeds what we typically expect from a budget upright.

Features (Kenmore: 3.68 vs Avg: 2.38)

Features remain one of the Kenmore’s biggest strengths. Its Features Score of 3.68 is more than double the category average of 2.38 and is a major reason it continues to lead the budget category. The DU5092 includes a Lift-Up detachable pod, swivel steering, LED headlights, sealed HEPA filtration, and Kenmore’s Hair Eliminator brushroll technology, which automatically removes wrapped hair from the brushroll during operation. These are features that are often reserved for significantly more expensive vacuums.

The sealed HEPA filtration system deserves special mention. Fully sealed filtration remains relatively uncommon in the budget segment, yet it is one of the features we consider most important in a modern vacuum. The Kenmore passed our filtration testing and helps prevent dust, allergens, and fine particles from being released back into the air during cleaning.

Compared with budget alternatives such as the Bissell CleanView Compact Turbo, the Kenmore offers a substantially more complete feature package. While the CleanView provides respectable cleaning performance, it lacks Lift-Up functionality, swivel steering, LED headlights, and a sealed filtration system.

Hard Floor (Kenmore: 2.60 vs Avg: 3.48)

Hard-floor cleaning is the one category where the Kenmore scores slightly below the category average. Its Hard Floor Score of 2.60 trails the average score of 3.48. As noted earlier, much of this result stems from the vacuum’s large front-gate design. While those larger openings improve larger-debris pickup, they reduce the floorhead seal somewhat on hard surfaces. This affects certain hard-floor metrics but also contributes to the vacuum’s versatility when handling mixed debris sizes.

Interestingly, alternatives such as the Bissell CleanView Compact Turbo post stronger hard-floor scores, earning a 3.70 in this category. However, the Kenmore offsets that advantage with significantly stronger features, filtration, versatility, and overall ownership value.

While it is not the strongest hard-floor specialist in the budget category, the DU5092 remains fully capable for everyday hard-floor cleaning and performs well across a broader range of cleaning situations.

While the Kenmore DU5092 prioritizes larger debris pickup over maximum seal performance, it still delivers dependable hard floor cleaning in everyday use. © Vacuum Wars

Carpet (Kenmore: 4.80 vs Avg: 3.71)

Carpet cleaning remains one of the Kenmore’s strongest categories. The Kenmore earned a Carpet Score of 4.80 compared to the category average of 3.71, making it one of the strongest carpet performers in the budget upright segment.

It achieved a perfect 100% result in our carpet deep-clean test, where embedded sand is worked into medium-pile carpet and measured for removal efficiency. It also performed extremely well in general carpet debris pickup tests across a variety of particle sizes.

The combination of strong agitation, effective suction, and a wide debris intake allows it to deliver results that rival many more expensive uprights. For homes with significant carpeted areas, this category remains one of the Kenmore’s biggest advantages.

Attachments (Kenmore: 4.70 vs Avg: 4.43)

The Kenmore scored well above average for attachments, earning a 4.70 compared to the category average of 4.43. Its Lift-Up detachable pod dramatically improves above-floor cleaning versatility by allowing users to clean stairs, upholstery, furniture, and other elevated surfaces more comfortably. Included accessories such as the Pet HandiMate tool and versatile three-in-one combo tool further expand its usefulness.

This is another area where the Kenmore separates itself from lower-cost competitors. Vacuums such as the Bissell CleanView Compact Turbo include basic attachments, but they lack the Lift-Up design and overall flexibility that make the Kenmore particularly effective for whole-home cleaning.

The result is an attachment system that feels far more premium than its price would suggest.

The Bottom Line

The Kenmore Bagless Lift-Up DU5092 remains our Best Budget Upright Vacuum for June 2026 because it delivers an unusually complete package at a budget-friendly price. Its combination of excellent carpet cleaning, strong debris handling, sealed HEPA filtration, Lift-Up versatility, automatic hair management, and above-average attachment performance helps it stand apart from most competitors in this category.

While alternatives such as the Bissell CleanView Compact Turbo may offer lower prices and slightly stronger hard-floor scores, they also require meaningful compromises in features, filtration, and versatility. The Kenmore’s sealed HEPA filtration system alone gives it a significant advantage for households concerned about dust, allergens, or pet dander.

For shoppers seeking the strongest overall budget upright vacuum in June 2026, the Kenmore Bagless Lift-Up DU5092 continues to offer one of the best values currently available.

Buying Guidance FAQ

What is the best upright vacuum overall for June 2026?

Our top overall upright vacuum pick for June 2026 is the Shark Performance Powered Lift-Away UV2500. It earned the highest overall Vacuum Wars Score among this month’s leading upright vacuums by combining strong cleaning performance, premium features, excellent attachment versatility, and higher owner ratings than its closest competitors.

Why did the Shark Performance replace the Shark Stratos as the Best Overall upright vacuum?

The Shark Stratos remains one of the strongest pure cleaning performers we’ve tested, with better Hard Floor and Carpet scores than the UV2500. However, the newer Shark Performance UV2500 earned a slightly higher overall score thanks to its stronger feature balance, category-leading attachment package, higher consumer ratings, and well-rounded ownership experience.

Why did the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser DualBrush 42943 win Best Value?

The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser DualBrush earned our Best Value designation because it delivers flagship-level cleaning performance, premium features, sealed HEPA filtration, Lift-Off versatility, and excellent pet-hair capabilities at a price below many premium upright competitors. Its DualBrush floorhead helped it achieve outstanding scores on both carpets and hard floors while maintaining a strong overall value proposition.

Why did the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser DualBrush replace the Pet Hair Eraser Allergen Lift-Off as the Value pick?

The previous Value winner, the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Allergen Lift-Off, remains a strong option. However, the DualBrush improves upon that formula with a more advanced dual-brushroll floorhead, stronger hard-floor performance, Floor Detect automation, and a higher overall Vacuum Wars Score. Those improvements were enough to move it into the top Value position this month.

Which upright vacuum performed best on carpet in your tests?

The Shark Stratos and the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser DualBrush were among the strongest carpet performers in our testing, each earning a Carpet Score of 4.80. The Kenmore Bagless Lift-Up also posted an excellent Carpet Score of 4.80, making all three standout choices for homes with significant carpeting.

Which upright vacuum is best for pet hair?

The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser DualBrush was designed specifically for pet owners and includes FurGuard anti-tangle technology, a sealed HEPA filtration system, Lift-Off portability, and pet-focused attachments. The Shark Performance UV2500 is also an excellent option for pet owners thanks to its DuoClean PowerFins HairPro system, anti-hair-wrap technology, and self-cleaning pet power brush.

Are sealed HEPA filtration systems important in upright vacuums?

Yes. A sealed HEPA filtration system helps trap dust, allergens, and fine particles inside the vacuum rather than allowing them to leak back into the air. This can be especially beneficial for allergy sufferers and pet owners. All three of our June 2026 upright category winners include sealed HEPA filtration systems.

What is the advantage of dual-brushroll upright vacuums?

Dual-brushroll systems combine a soft front roller with a traditional rear brushroll to improve pickup across multiple floor types. This design is particularly effective at handling both fine dust and larger debris on hard floors while maintaining strong carpet-cleaning performance. Examples include Shark’s DuoClean technology and the DualBrush system used on the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser DualBrush.

Are budget upright vacuums still worth buying in 2026?

Yes. One of the biggest trends we’ve observed is that budget upright vacuums now offer features that were once limited to premium models. The Kenmore Bagless Lift-Up DU5092, for example, includes sealed HEPA filtration, a detachable Lift-Up pod, LED headlights, anti-tangle technology, and strong carpet-cleaning performance at a budget-friendly price.

How often do Vacuum Wars upright vacuum rankings change?

Our rankings are dynamic and update as new products are tested and additional owner feedback becomes available. New vacuum releases, updated performance data, consumer satisfaction trends, and long-term reliability feedback can all influence future rankings and category winners.
