ECOVACS Announces DEEBOT X2 OMNI Robot Vacuum at Global Launch Event

ECOVACS announced a new flagship robot vacuum model at their Global Launch Event on August 17th, 2023. Dubbed the DEEBOT X2 OMNI, the 2-in-1 robot vacuum has notable differences from the brand’s previous flagship, the DEEBOT X1 OMNI.

Ecovacs X2 Omni
Deebot X2 Omni Robot Vacuum

The Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni is a fully automated robot vacuum system featuring an OMNI station that empties its dustbin for up to 90 days, washes mop pads with 131°F water, and automatically refills the robot’s water tank to cover up to 4,300 square feet. It delivers 8,000Pa suction with a 200mm rubber brush designed to reduce hair tangling, and its mop lifts by 15mm to protect carpets. The dual-laser LiDAR navigation and AI-driven AIVI 3D 2.0 obstacle avoidance help it map and navigate efficiently, even in low-light conditions. A dual rotating mopping system exerts 6N pressure at up to 180 rotations per minute to remove stubborn stains, and the integrated YIKO 2.0 voice assistant allows direct control without extra devices. A built-in Starlight Camera supports real-time monitoring and two-way calls.

Ecovacs DEEBOT X2 OMNI Announced
The new DEEBOT X2 docked in Ecovacs’ updated OMNI multifunctional dock.

The DEEBOT X2 Omni looks to be far more than a performance upgrade to the DEEBOT X1 OMNI model as the robot’s shape, size, navigation system, obstacle avoidance capabilities and full-service OMNI docking station are all new.

Some notable X2 Omni specifications include:

  • A square robot design with rounded-off corners
  • 15mm of mop lift
  • 7500-800Pa suction
  • AIVI 3D 2.0 with Dual-Laser LiDAR
  • 210-degree FOV (field of view)
  • Dirty-water detection
  • Auto-detergent filling
  • YIKO intelligent voice assistant 2.0

At first glance, two figures stand out. First is the 7500-8000Pa of suction, higher than currently available consumer robot vacuums. Second is the 15mm of mop lift. We recently did a review of the Roborock Q Revo and Eufy X9 Pro finding their mop pads lift 7mm and 12mm respectively. 15mm is a full 8mm higher than the Roborock model and 3mm higher than the Eufy X9 which was the most lift we had seen to-date.

On the innovation front, the X2’s new LiDAR system is something we haven’t seen before. As opposed to a spinning turret atop the robot, the X2’s design works without the top-mounted obstruction. This enables the X2 to have a far sleeker design, allowing it to get beneath more furniture than many competing robots.

ECOVACS also shared video of the X2 avoiding obstacles, including those dropped right in front of the robot’s path. The obstacle avoidance system seemed highly responsive when compared to other robot vacuums we’ve tested and reviewed

The X2 robot vacuum is complimented by a revised version of the brand’s OMNI docking station which can empty the robot’s dustbin and dirty water tank, fill the X2’s clean water tank and wash and dry its mop pads.
