It has been years since Dyson released an updated robot vacuum with the 360 Heurist being their last. Dyson never sold the Heurist in the United States and last year discontinued it in the United Kingdom. The 360 Vis Nav will be the first Dyson robot vacuum sold to US customers in years. With the 360 Vis Nav, Dyson says its engineers focused on what it calls the frustrations of other robot vacuum cleaners. The brand stated those frustrations as: Low suction power Inefficient navigation Getting stuck and not vacuuming properly The 360 Vis Nav was created by an international team of engineers from Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, and the UK, and is fitted with technology unique to both Dyson and the robot vacuum market at large. https://www.youtube.com/watch?vlAOifMtNra0 360-Degree Vision System The 360 Vis Nav claims to clean your home more accurately than Dyson’s previous models with the robot’s 360-degree vision system. As the robot moves through your home, it uses a fisheye lens to capture a panoramic view of its surroundings. Simultaneous Location and Mapping (SLAM) technology actively processes information captured from the camera to track where it has already been, see where it needs to clean and create dust maps of your home. The 360 Vis Nav’s onboard processor taps a total of 26 sensors which enable several abilities including dust detection, obstacle avoidance and wall detection. Super Charged Cleaning The 360 Vis Nav is equipped with a Dyson Hyperdymium motor, which spins as fast as 110,000 RPMs – offering what Dyson claims to be six times more powerful suction than any other robot vacuum on the market. One noticeable difference between the D-shaped 360 Vis Nav and other robot vacuums is its near full-width brush bar. The brushroll itself has a soft ‘Fluffy’ nylon for hard floors and larger debris pickup, carbon filaments for fine dust, and stiffer bristles to tease dirt from carpet fibers. Dyson's edge cleaning technology redirects suction for better pickup. As far as edge cleaning goes, Dyson says that when the 360 Vis Nav senses it is at the edge of a room, it will redirect suction to better collect dirt and debris. Most other robot vacuums rely on spinning side brushes for this task. US 360 Vis Nav Availability While Dyson has yet to provide a release date for the 360 Vis Nav, the brand has confirmed that the robot vacuum will be sold in the US. Dyson V15s Detect Submarine & V12s Detect Slim Submarine The Dyson Submarine is not a vacuum but an additional wet roller head which will be included when purchasing the Dyson V15s Submarine or Dyson V12s Detect Slim Submarine. Precision Wet Cleaning Anyone who mops their floors knows the worst part is waiting for the water to dry, but the Dyson Submarine eliminates this issue. This vacuum is designed to evenly distribute precisely 18 ml of water per minute onto the cleaning head’s powered microfiber roller. The Dyson Submarine wet roller head for will be included with Dyson's V15s and V12s. Like the current Dyson V15 and V12 models, the V15s and V12s models include an LCD screen which, among other things, tracks the size and quantity of particles the vacuum takes in by way of a piezo sensor. Beyond the visual display, data from the sensor also automatically adjusts suction as needed. Dual Water Tanks The Dyson Submarine features two water tanks. The first is a 300 mL (0.32 qt) tank containing clean water to wash floors. Dyson claims this is enough to clean about 110 square meters (1,184 sq ft) without interruption. This equates to a full story of hardwood floors for the average home. The second tank holds the dirty water pulled from the roller, holding up to 360 mL (0.38 qt) of wastewater. A plate extracts debris and dirty water from the Submarine's spinning brushroll and into the tank preventing it from making its way back onto the floor. The new Submarine wet roller head will not be compatible with older Dyson V15 Detect or V12 Detect Slim models. Like the 360 Vis Nav, the Dyson V15s Detect Submarine and V12s Detect Slim Submarine are set to launch later this year, rounding out the company’s vacuum line-up as its first wet vacuum cleaner. US Dyson Submarine Availability Dyson has yet to provide US release dates for the V15s Detect Submarine or V12s Detect Slim Submarine, only stating that they will be available in 2023. UPDATE: The V15 Detect Submarine is now available at Amazon and on Dyson's website. Dyson Gen5detect When released, the Gen5detect series will undoubtedly take flagship cordless vacuum status from the V15 Detect. The new model delivers a staggering 262 AW (air watts) of suction power, more than any other cordless vacuum currently on the market. Today’s Dyson V15 Detect and V15 Detect Absolute max out at 230 AW and 240 AW respectively, giving the Gen5detect an increase of almost 15% over the standard V15 Detect. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v2tkOvs4TL3A In addition to the standard Gen5detect, Dyson also announced the Gen5outsize. Although details are sparse, expectations are that the Gen5outsize will likely ship with a larger dustbin, wider full-size cleaning head and a second battery. RELATED: Dyson Gen5detect vs Gen5outsize Review and Comparison Maximum Cleaning Those 262 AW of power come courtesy of Dyson’s new fifth-generation Hyperdymium motor, which spins at 135,000 RPM. As with earlier Dyson cordless models, the Gen5detect has 14 cyclones designed to clear their airflow of dust, resulting in consistent performance without loss of suction. The Dyson Gen5detect cordless vacuum is Dyson's latest cordless model. Additionally, the vacuum is fitted with Dyson’s whole-machine HEPA filtration system that captures and removes 99.99% of particles down to 0.1 microns. The company also notes that the Gen5detect models are “capable of capturing viruses from your home.” Clean What You Can’t See You won’t have to worry about leaving any dust or debris behind when you clean with the Gen5detect. It features an updated version of the V15’s Laser Slim Fluffy cleaner head. Called the Fluffy Optic cleaner head for the Gen5detect, Dyson says it reveals twice as much surface dust on hard floors than the V15’s laser-equipped head. Know Your Surfaces Are Clean Like its recent predecessors, both Gen5detect models include a piezoelectric sensor, which measures the particles that are sucked up into the vacuum. In addition to keeping a running count of collected particles by size on the vacuum’s LCD screen, the vacuum also uses the information to adjust its output to deliver a deeper clean when necessary. It also lets you know when your surfaces are free from pollutants. US Gen5detect Availability The Dyson Gen5detect is expected to be available to US consumers on June 6, 2023. Dyson’s Long Term Vision Dyson's new products reflect their engineering expertise with airflow, filtration, motors, software, and robotics. John Churchill, Dyson’s Chief Technology Officer outlined the brand’s future vision well, stating it to be “...of a home that can look after itself.” He added, “The new technologies launched today are the embodiment of this – the most powerful robotic vacuum cleaner … and, for active cleaning, new cordless vacuums and cleaner head technologies that offer adaptive, multifunctional cleaning when and where you need it.”
