A strong contender in the robot vacuum market, the Roborock Qrevo Master has most of the advanced features of the flagship S8 MaxV but with spinning mop pads instead of fixed pads—and at a more affordable price. After purchasing one and putting it through rigorous evaluations, we found that the Qrevo Master is a very impressive release from Roborock. It even claimed the top spot in our latest Vacuum Wars Top 20 Best Robot Vacuums list.
The Roborock Qrevo Master
Roborock has recently expanded its Qrevo line significantly. “Revo” stands for Revolution, highlighting the spinning mop pad system that sets it apart from the VibaRise vibrating mop pad system found in the S7 and S8 series. The Qrevo Master is also the top-tier model within the Qrevo series, available in both black and white options.
Roborock Qrevo Master review: evaluation and performance
It’s time to dive into the real-world performance of the Qrevo Master. Throughout our evaluation, the model consistently excelled in key areas, showcasing its capabilities in both cleaning efficiency and advanced features.
Debris pickup
It excels at debris pickup on hard floors and carpets, which is something that Roborock has always been good at. Equipped with a single side brush, a dual brush roller, and a floating housing, it delivers nearly perfect sweeping performance, easily handling everything from fine dust to extra-large debris.
Additionally, the Qrevo Master features a new auto-extending side brush, one of the few robot vacuums to offer this, which noticeably enhances corner cleaning.
Carpet deep clean
The Qrevo Master performed well in deep cleaning carpets, demonstrating better-than-average results. We measured this by embedding sand into a medium-pile carpet and weighing the bin before and after a timed run.
Mopping system
As for its mopping system, the Qrevo Master offers electronically controlled water dispensing with more flow options than previous models. It also has the new Flexi-Arm mop from Roborock, which automatically extends for improved edge cleaning.
In our mopping evaluations, the Qrevo Master delivered near-perfect results, particularly in the dried-on coffee and grape juice evaluations. Plus, after reviewing the evaluation footage, it may have outperformed the pricier S8 MaxV Ultra in these mopping challenges. It was a very close comparison, but we think the Qrevo Master has the edge.
Additionally, the mop pads lift 10 mm when the robot senses a carpet, preventing unwanted wetness on the carpet’s surface. You also have the option of vacuuming carpets first, without moistening the pads at all, in order to completely eliminate the risk.
Roborock Qrevo Master robot vacuum features
Automated station
The self-empty bin is a significant advantage of the Qrevo Master. It not only automatically empties its dustbin into a disposable bag but also washes the mop pads with hot water, dries them with hot air, and refills the mop tank. Plus, similar to the S8 series, it features a sensor that detects how dirty the mop water is and triggers additional mop pad washings if needed.
There’s also a self-cleaning function, which is rare even among flagship models. The S8 has this feature as well, but the Qrevo Master includes a removable tray, making it easier to access for deep cleaning.
Hair detangling
This robot vacuum mop combo also introduces a new feature from Roborock: small blades inside the brush cover that automatically remove hair from the axles, where hair tends to accumulate. This can reduce maintenance time and ensure consistent performance without the hassle of manually cleaning out tangled hair.
Navigation
The Roborock Qrevo Master uses a top-mounted LiDAR sensor for mapping and navigating. With its fast-mapping feature, it mapped our floor plan in about five minutes. Plus, in our navigation evaluation, where it was run on various power settings over a fixed floor plan, the Qrevo Master demonstrated above-average efficiency and coverage.
Battery life
The Qrevo Master also performs well in terms of battery life, and with an official runtime of 180 minutes on low power, it surpasses many competitors. We also found that its battery efficiency is above average, covering 1,659 square feet per charge, compared to the average of 1,207 square feet. Of course, actual performance may vary depending on various factors.
Obstacle avoidance system
As for the robot vacuum’s obstacle avoidance system, it’s a significant advantage. The Qrevo Master uses a front-mounted camera and a 3D structured light sensor to recognize and avoid household objects, earning an impressive score of 10 out of 12 in our evaluations. While not perfect, this result stands out, especially when compared to the previous Qrevo MaxV model, which initially had one of the lowest scores we’ve seen.
Interestingly, both the Qrevo Master and the MaxV share the same hardware and Reactive AI, so the difference in performance was puzzling. We then decided to update the firmware on the older Qrevo MaxV and re-run our Obstacle Avoidance evaluation, where it improved significantly. We aren’t sure what changed since Roborock doesn’t provide a detailed change log. However, other reviewers have confirmed this enhanced performance as well.
App
Another pro feature worth highlighting is the Roborock app, which is one of the best in the industry and offers a wide range of features. These include:
- Virtual barriers
- Specific room options
- Zone and spot cleaning
- Extensive scheduling options
- Daily cleaning routines
- Carpet boost
- 3D and matrix map displays
- Multi-level mapping
- New pet checkup options
- Video calling
- And much more
Cons of the Roborock Qrevo Master
This wouldn’t be a comprehensive Roborock Qrevo Master review without diving into the cons. While the robot vacuum mop combo doesn’t have many, there are a couple of potential drawbacks worth noting.
Raw power
Despite performing well in practical evaluations like the carpet deep clean, pickup, and crevice evaluations, the power numbers from our bench evaluations were less impressive. For instance, it achieved only 13 CFM of airflow on max power, matching the S8 MaxV but falling below average. Its suction power also told a similar story.
However, while the Qrevo Master didn’t stand out in terms of raw power, it’s worth noting that, based on other evaluation results, raw power may not be as critical as once thought.
Price
Price is another con—it’s on the expensive side. However, this cost is relative. With the Qrevo Master, you’re investing in a fully automated floor care system that, according to our evaluations, performs as well as or better than the Roborock S8 MaxV and other flagship models that sell for significantly more.
Roborock Qrevo Master: value and recommendation
The Roborock Qrevo Master has claimed the top spot in our Top 20 Favorite Robot Vacuums list, which is updated weekly. It outperformed both the Dreame X40 and the Roborock S8 MaxV despite those models being significantly more expensive. This achievement highlights the Qrevo Master’s exceptional value.
