Shark Unveils PowerDetect Speed Clean & Empty Cordless Vacuum System

SharkNinja has officially announced the launch of its latest cordless vacuum system, the Shark PowerDetect Speed Clean & Empty System, expanding its PowerDetect lineup with a new focus on lightweight design, intelligent cleaning, and automated maintenance. The new model is positioned as a compact and agile alternative within Shark’s premium cordless category, combining advanced dirt-detection technology with a self-emptying dock designed to reduce user intervention.

PowerDetect Technology Expands Intelligent Cleaning Features

At the core of the system is Shark’s PowerDetect technology, which uses multiple sensors to automatically adjust cleaning performance based on conditions such as floor type, debris levels, and vacuuming direction. In practice, this allows the vacuum to increase suction when higher debris levels are detected, adapt cleaning behavior across different surfaces, and improve overall efficiency without requiring manual adjustments. This approach aligns with a broader industry trend toward sensor-driven automation in cordless vacuum design.

Updated Floorhead Design Moves Away from DuoClean

One notable design difference in the PowerDetect Speed Clean & Empty System is its floorhead configuration. Unlike many of Shark’s recent PowerDetect cordless vacuums, this model does not appear to use the DuoClean system, which typically features a dual-roller setup with a soft roller in front and a standard brushroll behind it.

Instead, it uses what Shark refers to as a Turbo Pro Detect brushroll, which incorporates bristles designed to sweep debris and agitate carpet. This suggests a more traditional single brushroll approach, potentially prioritizing simplicity and reduced weight over the dual-surface optimization seen in DuoClean designs.

The floorhead also includes an integrated light to help reveal debris on hard floors and in low-light conditions, a feature that has become increasingly common in higher-end cordless vacuums.

Auto-Empty System Targets Low-Maintenance Cleaning

A key component of the system is its Clean & Empty dock, which automatically empties the vacuum’s dustbin after use. This is intended to reduce direct contact with debris, streamline routine maintenance, and allow for longer intervals between manual emptying. Auto-empty functionality has increasingly become standard in premium cordless and robot vacuum categories, and Shark continues to expand this capability across its product lineup.

Positioning Within Shark’s Expanding PowerDetect Lineup

The PowerDetect Speed Clean & Empty System joins a growing range of Shark products built around the PowerDetect platform, which now includes cordless, upright, and robot vacuum systems. Recent releases in the lineup have emphasized intelligent detection features, such as identifying dirt levels and floor types, along with increased automation through self-emptying docks and integrated cleaning systems. This latest release continues that direction, with an emphasis on portability and everyday usability.
